As Steve says, the numberplate belongs to the car...
Don't know if the retention paperwork is already going through, if so, Max has a problem, if not, Keith does.
Yes it was a state, as Keith and Max both knew, but that was reflected in the price, and the state of the car was known by both parties.

Unless there's paperwork agreeing to the retention of the plate by the once owner of said plate, then it goes with the car and it's down to next owner to release the plate to one of the previous owners.
Sticky situation and a gentleman's agreement means fuck all.

Appears Max is deleting all the questions on the ad relating to the plate... ??? It says 9 questions asked, but only 3 showing... All answers say plate is going with the car...
Beware of Gentleman's Agreements people. They're not worth the paper they're written on...

The car has been welded, and has lots of work needed, anyone buying it should be aware of this.
Although, like Diddlers, the Tech 2 kit was supplied by the dealers from new.
The front number plate and valance isn't the genuine one though, it's a cheap copy from when Keith bent it.

The plate was bought for Keith by his dad who's now dead, so Keith is even less happy than he would be anyway, as the plate has sentimental ties as well as being his plate.
Max agreed to return it in front of Keith, Dave, (Gaszman), and another friend of Keith's.
Max also had a friend with him, but he'll probably side with Max, but there's 3 against 2...

Absolutely right, once the plate is sold with the car and the new keeper has the V5C in his name then there is no claim available to the previous owner. That is the only document of ownership recognised. I fear that unless the new owner really is a gentleman (and I don't know either new or former keepers) then the leg-breaking thread is far more likely...Steve-E30 wrote:As i see it , Whoever owns the car owns the plate unless the paperwork to put it on retention before the car was sold , Looks like he may have lost the plate
The only paperwork he will have is probably when he purchased it ??

why didn't keith just put it on retention before he sold it?
i'd never verbally agree anyhting with someone i don't know... especially for something as sentimental as that plate...

Mods , Please dont delete this thread
It can be used in keiths favour that what maxos has put that indeed it is keiths plate
All this over a few weeks of ownership ffs
Did you have any intention of giving keith the plate back ??

Giggety Giggety Goo!!!
Nice edit dipshit , To slow im afraid
m4xos wrote:WOW!!
Im amazed with the 'local' zoners comments, pure suprising!
Il start off with how this thread started by powell.. its a key word in the title..people type e30 sport in and mine will come up on a search on ebay, i DO NOT say ohh its a genuine sport etc, i do however say its an SE twice in my listing!! However ive already answered your question on ebay powell, telling me to change my description, (i think you have too much time on your hands to even start a thread up on here)
As for my side of the story..
I purchased the car from keith a few weeks ago with a blown engine.
I have put many hours, money and sweat in making this car presentable
We did agree that the plate would be taken off by keith,(he pays the retention fee's) i have in the last few weeks tried ringing keith many times and yet no answer what-so-ever!
My grandad is in hospital seriously ill and i am there as much as i can be aswell as caring for my nan back at home. I havent got the time to chase up people that ignore me, i dont want the car parked in my drive any more as alot of you know i have a couple of e30's, and i only keep the oem bmw's.
Therefore i put it on ebay, for sale with the plate .
I did have a text from keith (1st time since i bought the car, and why only a text!?) however last night saying "dont sell my plate i will report the car stolen if you go through with it, im also going to dvla tomorrow, and im also reporting you to ebay."
Why has it taken this looonngggg to contact me!!!???!! The police will laugh at you as i purchased the car fair and square.
If i had a personal plate i wouldnt have sold the car til the plate was retained off the car. I was how ever keeping my word, waiting for keith to pay me the money to take the plate off, weeks later im no closer, hence why its on ebay for sale with the plate!
As some of you have said, once you sell the car, the personal plate belongs to the new owner if not taken off before hand, you need the mot, the log book v5, the tax disc and insurance for the car to take the plate off, i have all of these. I am the new owner, im not waiting any longer for the funds, i want the car sold and another thing gone to worry about as i have alot on my plate at the moment., then getting told its all over e30zone hence this reply.
As for the other zoners digging the car, i welcome anyone to come round and view, the underside, arches, scuttles , etc has no rust what so ever, i have described the car accurately in my description as i possibly can, the local zoner who says its rusty wants his eyes testing, for 1 you could never see the underside of the car as is too low, i dont mind putting it on my car ramp and showing the world, id actually eat my dinner off the underside!
As for the 'deleting comments bit from gordon' please tell me how you delete comments posted on ebay on the auction itself, ...you cant!! i posted it on there for a reason for everyone to see, i can still see all questions asked on my computer!!!!
As for the leg breaking stratergy..i welcome anyone to come round! Rolling Eyes
Ive been fair for the last few weeks, getting ignored, ive tried my best, im the owner of the car, il sell it if i want, end of!!
Giggety Giggety Goo!!!
cant be dealing with this pathetic crap, hence why i deleted my bit
ive tried my best to contact keith, yes its been a few weeks, and a few weeks too long,
if i sold a car with a verbal agreement id be phoneing everyday saying i have the money for the retention, il drop it off for you to take the plate off for me, but nothing, no phone call back at all!!
what i would have done is the money i gave for the car, id have given the retention fee money out of that back to me for number plate to be taken off!

Max, I have posted a question on there which hasn't shown up, hence the question.
As I also said, you're not technically doing anything wrong as the plate belongs to the car until removed.
Don't want to get into any "he said", "she said" rubbish, at the end of the day, the deal with you and Keith was and is nothing to do with me.

This is the text max sent Keith,
Report it stolen, the police will do you for wasting police time as i purchased the car! Ive given you a few weeks for you to take the plate off and havent heard a bean! At the end of the day i wouldnt have even bought the car if i had known the amount of faults it has, its been bodgd up too many times and fake service history made, i could take it to trading standards if your going to get funny, its a shitter and i want the money i spent on it BACK!
The best thing to do is scrap the car, there is enough on there to make your money back, by all accounts you dont need the cash anyway. Keiths dad bought the plate, you say part of your family is ill? You wouldn't Like it the other way round. Get it sorted before it goes too far

So much hating over a sorry councilled up quattoporte !
Looks like 1250 kg of light iron/fibreglass from where I'm sitting @£160 per ton........
For future reference peeps and to save lots of aggro - if you want the plate and it is so valuable/ has sentimental value et al , take it off BEFORE you sell the car !
As it stands now, Max owns the plate and the previous keeper has very little if any claim to it !

On a side note it's threads and situations like this (which in all honesty could easily have been avoided) which will give any newbies reading this the wrong idea about the zone...
The unfortunate thing is that it always ends up being the exception rather than the rule which gets people talking!

the seller should have put it on retention before getting rid, gaszman wrote:as i put it mate
sold with blown engine to max and the deal was to give keith plate and to put the old nos back on the car which is G281 VUV
as i have both front and rear plates here
but.....
if it was verbally the deal that the plate would be given back , they why not give it back ?
many people i deal with would stick with this, a verbal agreement is always enough... if the buyer is going back on this, he's obviously vermin and was out to shaft the seller, I would be knocking on his door
I don't know either of these people but I would just like to say that if either of them are thinking of taking any of this further (legally I mean, not the leg breaking!) don't rely on the opinions given by the zoners who have posted commenst about verbal agreements, contracts, rights and legal title. Most of it is unfounded bollox.
These are sensations as hard to forget as they are to ignore.....
