Is it possible to delete the oil breather hose that comes out of the valve cover and replace it with some form of small filter.

What engine? If you remove the pipe it will make the engine run rough as you will have a air leak. Start your engine and remove the oil filler cap and you will see what happens.

Is there a reason why would you want to delete it?

The engine bay has a million hoses. I wanted to simplify it and delete whatever I could

The samll filter will spit oil all over your engine, not brilliant on road car TBH.

Can anyone suggest how to test if the boot lights are staying on with the boot shut?
