hi all this may sound wrong to some but hay what the hell right got a 318i auto i was thinking what diff can i change to lower the engine speed when its on the motorway as i think the rpm are high for the speed it is going at i know my pick up may suffer but as long as its not too bad i can live with it and the diff i swap what car and model is it so i can get cheers am sure some one knows

We really need to know what ratio is fitted at the moment,so that an alternate can be suggested.

Your car could have either a 4:1 or a 4:27.....slide underneath the back of the car and have a butchers,take a wire brush or a bit of abraisive paper with you along with a torch.You are looking for a tag held on to the back of the diff,this will give the ratio,but the tag will be rusty!
