Under the steering shaft, next to the ECU is a single in line fuse joining two parts of the loom.
What is it for and what does it do?
On my first E30 I thought someone had added it, but all the ones I have looked at seem to have it.
Someone please help 'cause it is really bugging me.
What is this fuse for?

New one to me! What models and age are these E30s?
Brian,
One is a F reg 320i, second is a E reg 318i, third was 325I se G reg.
Just noticed all are from the same dealer. (Trainer's in Swansea)
Was there some sort of fix kit that the dealers added?
because removing the fuse changes the idle speed (down by 100 rpm)
Picking up a 320i touring tonight from mid wales will check that for this fuse. very odd.
