Wearing inner edges / walls of the rear tyres on and E30 M3

All,

Just looking for a bit of guidance. I've had the alignment done and the rear is out by some way and the inner edges / walls are wearing unevenly compaired to the rest of the tyre. Any ideas? I was thinking of the trailing arm / rear suspension bushes? I had in mind too to opt for the powerflex ploy bushes.

Appreciate any help / guidance.

worn inner part of tyres from a geometry point of view would ususally be due to toe in, but don't rely on my advice for any decision there mate, I think I am right but not 100%.

Also, if your car has been lowered, the negative camber created by this causes the inner part of the tread to wear quickest because lowering the rear causes the top of the wheel to lean inwards, so the outer edge of the tyre does nothing and the inner edge gets all the grief

is the vehicle lower than stock ?, this can cause alarming tyre wear on the e30.

worn bushes can cause the kind of wear you've desribed , but assuming no noises or iffy handling are evident I'd look @ the wheels/tyres/lowered ? questions 1st

No the car is stock save for its running on 16in Alpinas. I thought about the geometry too but as it is ajustable (?) the only thing I can think of of worn suspension components. That said it handles like a dream with no apparent knocks etc.

Its probably worth changing the bushes anyway , it allways seems to transform the handling. Grad the wheel and check it for play in all directions This is most likely you problem anyway, unless your car has had a bash at some time.

Don't really understand this post.
If you've just had an alignment, then you should know why your rear tyres are worn on the insides. Presumably your suspension is out of spec.
This can only be caused by wear or damage if it's at stock height, so find out which and where and repair/replace as neccessary.

Sorry. I had the alignment checked and know how much its out - same on both sides so kind of eliminates a shunt. What the garage said was that the alignment on the rear can't be adjusted like the front. So I'm curious as to what the likely cause is. I'll take it to my specialist and seek their advice. I was only seeking views from someone who may have overcome this problem previously. Thanks for the replies.

Rear can be adjusted using OE alternative bushes, but if ride height is correct and nothing's bent, then it can only be trailing arm bushes.

the wear also depends on how hard you drive it if you nail it everywhere they will wear more on the inside of the tyre.

If you dont or the tyre wear is really bad i can only suggest that there are worn bushes on and best bet is to replace them.
