Nice work. Mipa make decent products, I know a bloke who has been using there stuff for years, spraying and supplying, he swears by it, good value for good quality paint. It looks to me like your no amateur, how come your not in the trade still.

Very nice job!

I sprayed mine myself, and am so pleased with the results. Had to use celly though. What did you use out of interest?

Oh and by the way, if you are after a rust curer that really works, try bilt hamber deox gel (Google it)- i bought some a couple of years ago and it is absolutely amazing. Really does remove rust and leave shiny metal, is non acidic and doesn't even damage surrounding paint. Rust on my car hasn't come back over 2 years later. :D

i not in the motor trade still simply because the pay is :piss: poor

i painted mine in 2k primer and top coat the only way to fly
saves so much work to get a good finish
i will look up that rust cure

mipa products are middle of the road ok for the money
but i did a e30 cab in it ,it was ok did it at his place, then he got some teck2 bumpers for it and i took them to work to paint, did those in standox and when we put them on the pearl in the standox paint on the bumpers out classed the mipa paint hands down
the colour was diamond shwarts black
you get what you pay for 8O

+1

Bilt-Hamber stuff is top quality - about twice the price of your Halfords Kurust or whatever but about 50 times better. The Deox-C comes as a gel or, my favourite, water-soluble so you can drop in your rusty part. Come back a day later and every trace of rust is gone. Great for little bits like calipers, headlamp backing plates, etc.

Wouldn't believe you could get a finish like that in your garage. Top work!

Good job on the painting. I wish I could paint myself but I don't think I could do a good enough job.

The bilhamer deox gel is class stuff, I have it working it's magic on the wings right now and it's looking good.

you really really need a paint booth to make a good job
i just have not had the time to tidy up the drivers side this summer what with holidays, kids, wife, house etc
and now the drivers front wing needs replacing (ye oldy rust)
and the passenger rear door has since acquired some nice car park dents

Good work 8)

Finally got my touring turd back of the road after 3/4 month de-rust and overhaul session, ideally could do with a session in a booth, had to make do with rattle cans and warm days

rattle cans :D
it is possable to do tidy little jobs with them
that said i did my motor with a 1 3/4 horse power compressor that i got from the local netto for £50 and a good cheap full size spray gun form the paint shop
that little compressor really has payed for its self with all those little jobs i have managed to do with it

Got some pretty ok results, they sprayed quite nicely, not cheap though, probably more cost-effective to buy a compressor

Real bind not having a garage i could get the car into :(

my tale gate has rubbed here too
stick some clear anti chip foil on to stop the tale gate chipping off that nice new paint when you close it

Its a common stress crack place on the touring, that was post weld n grind and a little bit o bondo :)

I've used some of that stonechip film on the front valance bit (above the bumper)and the lower bits of the rear arches, all high impact places that i've sprayed, hopefully do the trick!

time to do some more body work
the drivers front wing has really rotted out after this winter
Image
and a past mot bodge
Image
wing off
Image
i would have thought that it would be rotten here too
Image
but the wing is well shot
Image
Image
i started getting the new wing ready and then i remembered the camera
Image
i allways like to paint inside the wing too i think it helps keep the rust away especially as this panel is a pattern panel (pattern panels rust easy) i would like to have put a bmw wing on but for the cost
Image
Image
more prep
Image
like a fool i got carried away getting the paint fired on i forgot the picks of the painted wing
Image
wing on and wax oilled not a easy or a great fit but then for £34
i cannot expect bmw quality
the wing to bonnet up by the screen fit is not the best but its made an old car tidy again

just need to give it a good wash now

Results look excellent.
Had wing painted for my car not long ago and was panicking thinking the paint match was going to be well off but once it was fitted I was over the mon with the results.

the paint on my drivers door has been done before (door lock repair) and has now gone to polished pink so the new wing dose not match quite
i need to paint that too its going a bit rusty underneath aswell as the colour match
