hazd31 wrote:Just insured mine with admiral for 10 months at £670, not too bad to be honest as in only 20, but ive adjusted everything to get the price down!

Keeping it on the driveway is cheaper than in the garage did you know!

Best bit is they seem to have forgotten to debit my card even thought they have pasted docs :) may have to keep this one on the quiet!!!
That could come and bite you mate if you get pulled over by the police, i would quiery about that, you might have the documents but not be insured due to non payment which could be an error on their side but they wont admit that

the popularity of the E30 must play against it (i.e. more on the road more crashes).

Pick something rare and it'll be cheaper.. Got a quote of £268 for one of these, winkeye

yeh but it won't look anything like that. it will be a standard as fook turd with no extras, it's all relative to what you have modded.

I am still outraged that I am being held to ransom to the tune of £570 a year for a car that looks like shite and does dick all mileage in a super safe postcode for a policy that will likely pay out less than the value of a standard 320i luxorbeige autobox moredoor poofwagon with 8 years no claims scam protection.

yeh it's not even close to being a standard car but after spending the best part of 8k on this turd do they really think i now want to crash into a mcdonalds drive-in?.......oh wait....that's happened already. :D

I was wondering how easy is it to set up your own insurance company?

Mine went up by over £100 this year according to Direct Line. The girl on the phone was embarassed and managed to bring it back down a bit. Even she didn't reckon that 39 year olds are any more dangerous than 38 years olds with no other change in circumstances.

I'd have shopped around more but I'd missed the renewal letter and wanted to be back on the road asap.

Insurance companies putting excess above the vehciles value is getting more popular so then they don't have to pay out as much, its money for nothing. Normally an E30 driver is carefull and not to blame on accidents so if another car is involved they don't have to pay anything and if you just stuff up and have to claim, they still won't have to pay out as your excess is more then the value.

Free money to insurance companies. its a con but it works for them.

I can't believe the disparity between different places. I'm currently using my sisters 1.2 3cylinder Seat Ibiza (2003) its got a huge mileage so only worth about £1k.

In London it was going to cost £450 to insure, North Wales £198 and Manchester - £780! I'm a bit of a nomad at the moment and can prove I live anywhere... The excess is £350 the Manchester premium is insane - if it got stolen it would be pretty much pointless claiming.

Suppose its swings and round abouts last year I paid $80 for insurance for a year in East Africa... Everyone pays the same!

You think you're excess is high???

My excess is £12,500 on a £2,300 policy on a 1998 peugeot 106 1.4 which is worth at most about £300.

In addition to that, the b*stards have fitted a timer which means if I even move the car 1m after 11pm they will issue a £60 fine the next morning via direct debit. It's on a young drivers policy which they say "WILL DEFINITELY" bring your premium down if you don't claim in the first year............................................I never claimed but.........................................................£4,799 renewal..........

I'm going to have to start walking places now, as I really can't justify why I should be paying nearly £5k after monthly interest to drive around town?
This is discrimination against humanity......

Last year the 325 cost £250 fully comp, £100 excess, European cover, UK and European breakdown cover...I was 26 with zero no claims (due to a company car for the whole of my life, I'm actually a good driver) but no points. I also had a guaranteed write-off value of £5,250.

This year they regretted to inform me that they can no longer insure me on my vehicle...they simply wouldn't insure me again for the year. Absolutely nothing happened throughout the year which could have hampered my chances of getting insurance in the future (such as dodgy claims/fibbing on my policy etc) so the only thing I can assume is that it is not cost-effective for them to offer such a fantastic deal again in the current climate.
