After looking around for a while, an opportunity has presented itself in an individual E39 M5 - a sort of light purple with champagne leather. Went to look at it along with an E46 M3 today and there was no competition the big ridiculous purple one won it! Need to sort out paperwork etc but I'll get pics up once I have it in my hands.

Sounds like the right choice to me! Its not in techno violet is it? I very nearly bought one but ended up compromising on a 540 manual which was no slouch! Looking forward to the pics

Have you got a loan from the IMF also for the maintenance costs?

It's an individual colour scheme e.g. the original drug dealer, I mean owner, requested a bespoke set up from BMW. It's tricked out with a seriously impressive BMW sound system, TV and other toys.

In a Evo magazine some years ago there was a test of all the BMW M roadcars. The winner was a BMW E30 M3 Sport Evolution followed closely by in a few places belowBMW E46 M3 CSL, BMW E39 M5.
The E39 M5 is a car for life.

Just trawled the M5board and found these from 2005. I'm pretty sure its the same car - the owner at the time was in Edinburgh and it looks identical right down to the mobile phone slot in the armrest.

Wow, she truly is drug dealer spec!
What an epic chariot though. I am undecided weather to get an e46 m3 or an E39 m5 in a couple years. The more I think about it, the more I lean towards the m5.
Enjoy

When you compare side by side there is only one winner. I went along thinking the M3 was the more likely purchase but to be honest the M5 just blew it away, despite my reservations around the colour.ross_jsy wrote:Wow, she truly is drug dealer spec!

There is only one colour for a E39 M5 that is in Le Mans Blue but the interior looks nice.

I have to say, I'm loving the colour. I've been having bad thoughts about getting the 318is resprayed in purple.

Engine from the X5 M and F10 M5 according to Wikipedia...? I only mentioned it because I was in an X5 M a while back and they are epic! I'd had a spin in the 4.6 X5 before and saw Andyboy on here talking about using that engine (with an Alpina sump or something along those lines) to build a B8 4.6 type beastie on an e36 chassis.bss325i wrote:Whats an S63 then?snakebrain wrote:Would an S63 be do-able?bss325i wrote:I want and E39 M5 engine aka S62 in and E46 ala Hartge H50! Am I missing something here?
The M offers the same utility as the regular X5, with the addition of the V8 M TwinPower Turbo, a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 delivering 555 bhp (414 kW; 563 PS) at 5,750 RPM and peak Torque is 501 lb·ft (679 N·m), available between 1,500 and 5,650 rpm. The S63 engine is a high output variation of the N63 power unit.

Love the interia, especially the piano black trim. The colour is different, I doubt you'll see another one the same!
That car in the second video looks awesome but the drivers half ar$e driving was pathetic! Lol

Manhart Racing have made an E92 M3 with that engine but cranked up to 700bhp from 555bhp. See this months BMWCar mag. Quite a weapon by all accounts.

Finally got round to taking some photos of the Beast. As you can see it's a BMW individual colour called Veilchenblau metallic. Have to admit I sometimes want to vomit when I see this big purple nonsense colour in my drive, but then I sit behind the wheel, drive like my licence is unimportant and all is forgiven.....until I look down at the 15mpg on the computer of course.
