doing this today, how do i get the inner ball joint off, the exhaust manifold seems to get in the road of getting a ratchet down there,
if im missing something here please point it out

Long extension with a universal joint is my tool of choice.It's a 22mm socket,when you can get to the bugger.....

make sure its a decent quality universal joint - you may need a fair bit of pull on the breaker bar to undo it and a cheap UJ will just break.

Oh dear!
I have read on the internet,so it must be true,that if you belt the cross-member in just the right place,the taper will drop out.
Never works for me,I use a 'tuning fork' type balljoint splitter there.

Either that or put the nut back on so it protects the top of the thread, put a small piece of hardwood on top, then position your extension bar ( without UJ or socket fitted ) on the top of this and give it a whack with a persuading device. This works - I have done it. If the arms arent to be re used you don't need the wood to protect the thread - just belt it and it will drop out.daimlerman wrote:Oh dear!

the e30 could be bbq if it keeps this up, went at it today, scissor splitter as tight as i can get it, no luck, tuner on the back balljoint no luck,
the other side came out fine, near dropped out, but when time is short it dosent feel like it.
