about 10 years ago i had an old car that needed flushing badly as i think the oil was the stuff it left the factory with
my old man put some diesel oil in it and new filter.
did 1 weeks or 200 miles ish of driving .
then did a full change and new flter .
worked a treat . there is certain minerals in diesel oil that constantly clean .

this is no longer the case.

diesel oils used to have detergents added. but most oils now have detergents in them

I sorted a mates Rover out a couple of weeks ago that had the worst case or a blown headgasket I had ever seen, pure mayo for oil and 3 of the cylinders had thick mayo oil in them so it wouldn't turn over.

I replaced the head as it was more warped than a serial killer and filled the sump with 2 litres of oil mixed with 2 litre of diesel fuel and flushed the motor out, it did an amazing job of cleaning the mayo residue out.

I only ran the engine at idle for half an hour, I didn't rev the engine or drive it as that would probably kill it.

If I were you id just run the car for a while get the oil really hot and undo the sump plug, let it drain to every last drop is out, then use the jack to lift eiether side of the car in turn.

No real need to flush unless you have had some kind of mechanical failure/ rebuild recently.

Just my 2 pense!
