'Er indoors has started complaining that her car keeps cutting out at junctions, usually when cold - the engine, not the weather.
I never does it when I drive the car, so can't really offer any more detail.
Can anyone advise why an M10 might cut out like this?

thanks in advance

It's an auto.
Idle speed is rather erratic when cold. Sometimes it will drop off until it sounds like it's about to stall, then revs increase to about 1000, then settles back down.
Occasionally when started from warm it will rev to about 2000 rpm as soon as it's started, and have to blip the throttle to bring it down to about 700-ish

I've got a tin of carb cleaner. Would that do the job?

Hey Willzn - just realised you're in NZ - I used to live in a little place called Tuahiwi, about 25km north of Christchurch

M10 doesn't have an idle control valve - only and air slide valve but I doubt this would be causing the issue.

Is it injection or Carb?

Have you looked at the rubber hose from the air flow meter to the inlet? This may have cracks in it which causes the symptoms you describe.

It's carb

Where would I find a diagram of what all the bits of this carb are?
I'm used to simple carbs like SUs - this has all kinds of bits hanging off it

Thanks for suggestions.
I've squirted a load of carb cleaner down the top of the carb. Fitted a new fuel filter, and replaced 1 perished fuel hose and 2 perished vacuum hoses.
Just need a report back from 'er indoors now

Hopefully she will have seen you at work and know that you care!

If anything like my 'er indoors,the best clue you get,usually when it is too late/dark to do anything,is along the lines of;
'Darling,my car runs funny, will you look at it?'

my M10 inj has a similar issue, starts fine and every 10 seconds or so you get a slight change in the engine and exhaust note for a split second, then back to how it was, no idea what it is, car runs fine so i am not too bothered, probably running a bit rich or something. its off the road so i am yet to really see how it goes.
