Not sure how to post pictures on here, so this is my first attempt! Fingers crossed below will be a picture of the steering wheel that I have! Not the exact one as it is still on the car I picked up today.

I also have the original Alpina wooden gearstick and Alpina decal dials (speedo and rev counter)

Any help much appreciated!

maybe stick them on ebay and find out !

them aplina wheels are great, but people on here would/should be reluctant to deal with alpina items from a member with a couple of posts

Thanks for the feedback, its mainly so I put a respectable reserve on the ebay!

I picked up a 320i convertible to strip for parts for my 325i convertible and this was on it along with the wooden Alpina gearstick, Alpina dash dials and a few other bits and bobs!

Agree - not trying to sell here based on 1 pic like that, just trying to get a feel for value for a reserve.

Thanks!

well ebays a crazy place, sometimes good sometimes not, all comes down to who wants/sees the items at current time,. if it were me id put starting at 1p with no reserve and see how it goes, and withdraw it with 12 hrs left if i wasnt happy, and will also depend on exact condition and if it is a genuine alpina and not a momo with an alpina badge stuck on

Afaik the alpina steering wheel is made by momo  And there is no way on earth i would stick that on for 99p with no reserve!! I would expect a nice one to do £200+

Yes, but that's how ebay works, If you put a high start price (by high, I mean even half what somethings worth) it won't sell, I always start everything at 99p and no reserve, and things always go for good money.

You have to remember there's millions of people watching and there's always people who know the value of stuff. You are trying to encourage bids early on so you get a few people bidding against each other, that is what bumps the price up!

Also, never be put off by the price 1 day or half a day before the end, most things double at least in the last 12 hours. and lots of people like to drop a bid in at the last second. I have had lots of things shoot up by 50-60% in the last 30 seconds.

There's definitely an art to selling on there, Honest description, and lots of really good pics and people will bid high!

we know that, but there are normal momo wheels around that have alpina badges and are not genuine bmw alpina steering wheels

at the end of the day like matty says...with stuff like this thats sought after- you can list 5 things worth £150/255/250 each, at that price with a reserve...and then touch cloth when ebay send you the fees invoice for the month, and basicly end up giving 1 item away

or...you do it the smart was, list for 1p start (free) inviting people to message you, have your price in mind...and tell them thats what your after, there will always be a genuine party about for such items who knows the value, will pay that value to get the item hes been waiting for that you have, and message you... you then agree a deal with him and- re list it as a seperate auction for 1p start with £249.99 postage cost (the agreed price) as a 2nd postage option, he then bids, you end auction to sell to him, he selects that 2nd option , and then pays

thats the only way i do business on ebay with anything over £100 ,and always get that sale, and save fees , ebay/paypal fees are a disgrace these days for the small man seller, if your smart, you avoid them , or like most idiots...over price your items to cover them fees, and wonder why it doesnt sell

You're right up to a point Matt, but by doing what you say you can end up selling good stuff for peanuts - and then by the time you've fecked about with the post office, paypal fees ( and if you happen to underestimate the postage ) you've done it for nothing.

I don't sell anything on ebay now for less than a Fiver. Its not worth my time wrapping stuff up and queueing up in the post office with all the coffin dodgers if something only sells for a quid !

Back to the OP - personally I'd decide what would be the minimum you'd be happy to accept for it and list it at that as a start price. If it doesn't sell first time round you can always relist it and lower the start price.

Thanks everyone for the info re e-bay etc, all valid points! Main question is still kind of still out there though, anyone know what the Alpina steering wheel might be worth...? And also as I said the Alpina dial cluster and wooden gearstick..?

Obviously want to put them up as 3 seperate items so if anyone has an idea for each..? From what was suggested earlier it looks like I should maybe put a reserve on the wheel and hope to get around the £200 mark as it is in pretty good condition!

Thoughts?

Dunno know about the wheel, seen them go for anything up to £250 lately, was thinking of getting a repalcement for mine. As for the dials, a complete cluster sold for £40 the other week.
Give me a shout before you list the dials, i'll buy them off you if your price is reasonable (can you send me a couple of pics).

Last one of these on ebay went for 204 quid. I've got one the same and it's minty mint. The mint ones still have blue thread in the stitching, when they've been used a lot I'm told the thread goes darker, with dirt from hands I assume.

You should expect around 200 for it as long it's got no major marks etc.

Best response yet, thank you! It has no major marks and after your post I had a closer look at it and there is indeed some blue stitching around the parts not too used.

Going back to the dials, I'll get some pics up of that and the wooden gearstick and hope someone can shed some light!

the 4 spoke is a horrid thing to use.. kinda like an SE wheel, and belongs on a Leyland Bus IMO

I have 2 in stock if they are fetching £200 I can't wait to serve them up 8O

3 spokes are where it's at ! :D
