Viscous fan removal - HELP!

I just cannot shift the 32mm nut to remove the viscous fan on my M52. I have a huge spanner bought especially for the job and have a socket on a ratchet on the crank pulley. Even with 2 of us pushing against each other it just won't move. I've tried WD40 & the Halfords freezing stuff and no joy.

Any pointers please?

Yes, definitely going the right way and it just won't budge.
I've tried everything from penetrating fluids to brute force and am stuck so need some pointers or advice from fellow zoners!

Give the spanner a "Tap" with a hammer, not tooo much though.

Clockwise is to loosen, a piece of flat bar with two holes drilled will hold the waterpump if you dont fancy smacking it with a long chisel

Dan, I think that's what a previous owner or mechanic has done. Closer inspection looks like it's been hit with a punch or something (maybe a long chisel!). I've tw@tted the spanner with a club hammer...made no difference.
Any idea what the distance is between the holes on the flat bar?

My only positive thought about this is that if the viscous fan has been off before then perhaps the water pump & thermostat have already been replaced. I'm not going to take the risk though - the fan must come off!

A separate thought - this was a running M52 E30 conversion with the viscous fitted and an electric fan - plenty of room for the viscous - should I keep it on?

If you have a decent fan coming on and going off at the right temperatures you wont need a viscous.
Ive just measured a water pump, its 45mm between hole centres

Got it off by applying some heat and copious use of a cold chisel!
