Glad its a good'un - that's a lot of car for £750. Very economical motoring - these can get 40mpg on a run easily. Morea Green is a lovely colour that polishes up well and keeps clean easily.
Has it got the silver interior then?

Reads like a nice, genuine seller!MurphyE30 wrote:excellent newsjaymos wrote:Well went to look at the car and all I can say is that im well happy, the bodywork is mint and the interior is like new, had a good drive of it and it drove like a dream, heated up nicely and stayed dead centre.
The guy who im getting it from works at the dealers where the car was originally sold in 1995, it was traded in and he bought it for his mum after getting it checked over at the garage, he said the overall condition of the car is the reason he bought it and I dont blame him.
He is selling because his mum doesnt use it at all and that he would rather someone get the use out of it as he didnt want it just rotting away on her drive.
Hes even gonna check the database in work and print out all the info he can find on the car for me.looks a nice tidy car
All you need now is confirmation that the h/g has been changed....
Really,at that kind of money, you cannot grumble too much if you need to spend a little.
Good luck with it.

Ye tbf he was a real nice fella, asked him about the head gasket and he wasnt sure if it had been done, he said there was loads of paper work that he hadnt looked through, so hopefully there will be good news in there.daimlerman wrote:Reads like a nice, genuine seller!MurphyE30 wrote:excellent newsjaymos wrote:Well went to look at the car and all I can say is that im well happy, the bodywork is mint and the interior is like new, had a good drive of it and it drove like a dream, heated up nicely and stayed dead centre.

There's one near me available for around £400.
What do you reckon - worth a punt?

seems a bit pointless when you can buy reasonably tidy ones with tax and mot for £700.
£400 + a minimum of £150ish to mot and tax it so you can drive it, plus whatever else needs doing...

Ok guys, drove the car back last night and got to say it was great, im well made up with it, the only issue I have is when I was looking in the boot I took the spare wheel out and noticed a bit of water underneath it, anyone know of any common places where they let water in? the carpet and tray where the first aid kit is are dry and it doesnt smell damp.

Knackered boot seal? The one on my old 316i had perished after about 10-11 years. It normally results in a bit of rust/rot on the panel between the bootlid and bumper.

Ye possibly, no rust that I can see though, do the rear light clusters have seals around them, as on this there is just the black plastic surround with a tiny gap between that and the bodywork, could water get through there? or is the seal under the plastic?darkchild wrote:Knackered boot seal? I can't remember off the top of my head. When I changed the rear light clusters on my saloon I think there was a black rubber seal glued around the actual cluster. I'm sure one of the E36 boys will be able to confirm.

Well after the rain yesterday I checked the boot and it was dry so its a mystery at the moment. Im loving the car though, ok so it aint the quickest thing in the world but it drives great and is so smooth and quiet, I let my brother have a drive and he thought it had stalled at the lights
he was impressed. Any way will give her a clean when it clears up and get some pics up.
