E30- Wheeler Dealer - Last night
Moderator: martauto
Iv sadly got it recorded, that silver touring was nice, think he is/was a member on here, think iv read that an e30 m3 was done aswell but might be diff show.
They had an E36 M3 Convertible on a later series and Brewer once drove an E30 M3 with Kevin Bird on Deals on Wheels.sunnyr83 wrote:Iv sadly got it recorded, that silver touring was nice, think he is/was a member on here, think iv read that an e30 m3 was done aswell but might be diff show.
That E30 Touring episode really is gash - nasty air filter mods, crappy cheap exhaust (with chrome trims that make it a stainless sytem in Brewer's eyes!
About the only thing it inspired me to do was change my bumper trims!
What gets me about the show is how they shake hands everytime they meet like they havnt seen each other for years, makes me laugh, poorly produced show but love watching re-runs.
lets face it we all love the show and picked up tips from it, poorly produced maybe but thats why its good, its not fancy like top gear
what always gets me mind- is the cars, 95% seem to be very straight in the body, the odd bit of paint but never much talk of rust and rust treating or welding at all, its mostly pain the odd panel or bumper and a few bolt on bits and bobs yer uncle

Yep. Proper cars saved from the scrap-yard, at least for the next 5-10 years.polsta wrote:lets face it we all love the show and picked up tips from it, poorly produced maybe but thats why its good, its not fancy like top gear
Isn't that what we're all doing with our turds? I know I am, trying.
...and the show has never really been about turning a profit.
The worst iv seen is the scooby with the stoooopid strips with their signitures! They thought that was a selling point. Bet the owner scrapped that.
What i dont understand in Brewers irritating habit of sitting on the bonnet / front wing of any car he goes near or talks about. You can even see some of the owners wince as he wipes his fat arse over their pride and joy.
I bet Ed China is very good at popping out dents on bonnets

i said 95% ! lets face it,....theres a lot more rust/bubbling going on on most of the cars of them ages, than they seem to mention, most cars on there are quite clean examples that just need a tidy up of engine/bolt on stuff and once poilished etc look fabulousbmw320iSE wrote:You didnt see the classic mini they done then![]()
Was a mess and they had it "resprayed" and painted the engine block black hamerite with a hand brush it looked an absolute mess
Havnt seen the e30 one though
surely theres more to it than how its shown on the tv....ie reseachers/background people, hunt the cars out 1st that are good for the program and do a lot of leg work looking around to select the cars that are then "found" by mike
The Porsche 928 they had needed a bit of work as did the 924 they did. Totally agree with the scooby, the stripes ruined it. I would have said on camera, "take those crappy stripes off and we can come to a deal", really make his day lol.
Its a good laugh watching half the things they do. Brewer is a bit of a numpty agreed (who sits on fresh paintwork with Jeans on, i mean really........) however, Ed does know his stuff and i would happily let him work on any of my cars, he does seem a good mechanic, kind of feel sorry for him having to but up with Mike though.

i donmt mind mike, hes a"wheeler dealer" afterall, its gotta be a "show" as such, cant all be too boring can it and he has to play up bits, and he gets excited about things and deals

The E30 episode I saw turned me off the show for ever. Ed China is presented as some sort of know-it-all mechanic who uses expert knowledge to fix cars; if you know nothing about cars, you look to Ed as the man who's got the fix.
So when the daft twat sticks a cone filter on a 325, then paints a bonnet in rattle-can primer before sending it off to a paint shop, all I can think of is "you utter muppet, get off my telly and take your bolt-on bullsh!t solutions with you."
I'm very glad I don't get UK TV over here.

He slides all over the motors and really does make me laugh or after chinas finished polishing he wipes hes fingers all over it cracks me up
The show dosnt work because they have to do things by the book and cant be real wheeler dealers
I still enjoy watching them though
There was a new series on discovery which was on recently. Most recent one was the Saab 9-3 turbo convertible. Is this new series still ongoing and I have just been a goon and deleted the series link accidentally or has it finished? If still ongoing anyone care to tell me what night it's on so I can set up the recording again?

I think the idea in the show is to show that if your handy with a spanner etc you can turn a quick profit on what looks like a shed of a car by doing minimal work , not buy a car that is a pile of rust and restore it to mint standards. Otherwise one car would take a whole series to complete. Let's face it who goes out looking for cars full of rust and rot and expects to make money on it?

Got to admit though , brewer is like finger nails on achalk board!
Iv got the 'hold out ya haaaaaaaaand' ringing in my head!! Next time i go to shake someones hand im gona quote this line. lol
The other thing is when he goes and buys his shed the way he drives up and emergency brakes outside the unit. So many wrongs in the show but i guess thats why we love it.

Yeah handbrake on arrival or just slam it into park on the autos! Love it. Paul the mute is handy to have about though.
Paul the mute haha, Poor guy looks so tiny and weak and he only gets called out of his gimp box to lift the gearbox, exhausts and all the other heavy stuff.

Haterz !
I love wheeler dealers - more entertaining to watch than 99% of the other shyte on TV
I met Mike and Edd walking round the classic car show at the NEC a couple of years ago and chatted to them for about 20 minutes about the show and messing with old motors - genuinely nice blokes and proper car enthusiasts.
Both Southern fairies but I won't hold that against em

That one with the BMW E30 325i Touring was a good watch even if they did not do that much to the car.
I reckon Mike would a proper laugh esp down the pub along with that other former car dealer Dominic something who presents these programmes on BBC1.

crikey yeah...peopel say wheeler dealers is bad ?? ...well i watched that bbc one once, and that was unbelievebly poor, tried to be like same sort of thing but it was woeful, was a 17 year old i think wanted his 1st car, 2k budget or something and they had to find the car, was a corsa or some smal heap of sh!te that had been in a crash, they had it on a jig n stuff,he wanted it sporty with alloys, so think they sourced a new interior and wheels- the way the show was put together was like a cross between top gear/crime watch/and cowboy builders, or something , terrible terrible showpony wrote:That one with the BMW E30 325i Touring was a good watch even if they did not do that much to the car.

Same with Top Gear now though - a "series" is 6 shows plus 2 "Best of" shows.robbo86 wrote:Ta, rather short series then I thoughtThe Saab was the last episode of the current series.
Either these things are expensive to make or they're running out of ideas

Yep, only 5 episodes iirc. They did do that "Revisited" series too recently and what a surprise...none of their cars are still with the punters who "bought" them at the end of the show!robbo86 wrote:Ta, rather short series then I thoughtThe Saab was the last episode of the current series.
