Probably the vendor bid on it himself to get it going and nobody bit! Why else would someone have bid 700 to start!?

If the seller would have been happy with £700, It could be honest sale.

Only way to know for sure is to keep an eye on eBay for it going back on.

If its of interest to anyone it might be worth a cheeky email, just incase

Well it was me that won the bid and I went to see it last night.

Seemed a very honest guy but I would have classed it as 'item not as described' and he wouldn't budge on the price so im giving him an answer this evening as it needs more work than stated (as always)

Thinking of making a track car out of it, what you guys think?

Being a metal bumper car it is almost certainly rotten scrap, and as such totally unsuitable for a track car!

It's a 25 year old E30 with lots of clearly stated issues - engine noise, rust, dents, leaking fuel. May I ask exactly what you were expecting?

Given that it's worth the thick end of 300 quid on the scales, 700 quid for one that still has a few morsels doesn't seem that bad a deal. Christ, it'll break to a grand including the weigh in at the end, and that's after you've run it until the sizeable chunk of MOT and tax has run its course.

As you said, he was an honest Guy - and you got a bit of a deal. Do the decent thing eh?

Did you win it via ebay or was this an alternative agreement?

Fair play for getting him down to £500 but I must admit, if I was selling a car via ebay, someone won the bidding at a certain price and (assuming it was as described) tried to haggle me down I'd tell them to go and do one.

Afaik, you bid to buy, not bid to haggle.

Not if you had been economical with the truth or had genuinly missed faults surely?

Yh the only things he didnt say about was both rear Tyres need replacing (as most e30s do!) which I have 2 spare to fit, and the rear towing eye is non-existing (which is fine as I have a scrapper here I can chop up and weld in).

Oh the engine noise is an exhaust blow on the downpipe (how he thought it was an engine tapping I dnt know!

One bonus, exhaust is stainless steel from manifold to back box!

Started work on it today, clutch master cylinder replaced as it was knackered, just need to bleed it now and in the meantime change the wheels and the o/s droplink 'U' clamp as it's broken.

Changed the mirrors to standard ones to confirm they fit which they do, just require a lick of paint. Also removed the purple window tints as it looked like a polishmobile in my eyes.

In need if replacing the front floor carpet section (under front seats and dash), however I have a scrap Tourer, just wondering if that carpet will fit? Any ideas?
