Piece of advise mate, get an inclosed airfilter. That will do for now but will only suck in warm air and do your engine no favours! You could put up a shield but that isn't 100 percent, I did this but now I'm running an inclosed filter and I do feel the engine responds better to it.

How close is that steering coupling to the manifold when the coupling centre is horizontal? Looks close
