Hiya! Newbie here from Oz, wondering if its possible to retrofit ABS to a non ABS car? Looking at an E reg 325. not sure if it has abs or not.

Cheers

It would be possible, but you would need a lot off stuff. Complete ABS electrics, ABS front wheel bearings and ABS rear drive shafts.

Would it be worth while onyl doing the front? I guess that's easier to do. Back is less likely to lock isn't it?

you could if you colud get the ABS ECU to ignore the rear sensor input, or get a ECU for the front only, dont know if one exsist's....

don't think i'd bother with ABS if I'm honest, E30 brakes seem barely capable of locking a wheel in the first place!

Another one for the wish list, some Wilwood 4 pots

kam, maybe you could wire the front sensors to the rear to stop it triggering a fault?

I suppose you could, do some sort of bridge inside the ABS ECU to send the pulse from the front to the rear inputs.

Suppose you get the ECU to ignore the rear brakes and you get int a "4 WHEEL" lock up situation ! The ECU is only going to release the front brakes !
and i guess your going to swap ends, just a thought.

The ABS has no control over what it locks up, it just pulses the pressure in the whole system if it detects a lock up on any one of the wheels.

Depending on setup, the rear brakes are just as likely to lock as the fronts as the harder you brake, the less weight they have on them.
