Want to paint the rocker cover and intake plenum on my M3. Just wondering does anyone know of a good heat resistant paint for the job?

there are loads on the market up to the job, but any engine enamel is pretty tough. even the crap from halfords, but you can never get the original looking crackle finish

I used black VHT paint, but there are plenty of lads on here who have just used a matt black spray and got good results, it doesn't get too hot on the rocker cover or inlet manifold so heat resistant paint is not a pre-requesite.

just done it with ht paint peice of p*ss

you need to clean it all THOROUGHLY i used nitromors and you need a flap sander attatchment for your drill to polish up the stripes and the BMW bit, I took my rocker cover off as it took a couple of days..you can also then heat treat the paint if you have a large oven,i put mine on top of the gas and heated it up.

So a form of spray should do the trick then. I have them off the car was thinking of getting them sand blasted to a clean finish then painting. I want to spray the letters White. any tips on how to go about it or is it just a DIY tape up job?

Nice one fella :D

Did you polish the raised bit on a wheel to finish it off or was it purely all elbow grease?

Any links to this sort of thing?

you only need a small socket set. It takes no time at all and is easy but it takes quite a time to clean it up properly and polish the raised bits
