It depends on how you put the m30. There are 3 possible engine positions according to the www.e30.de. If you manage to position the engine so that you still have the oe fan then there should be no probs in fitting the ac radiator in front of the engine cooling radiator.rotaryaddict wrote:will it fit?

It can certainly be made to fit, but it probably won't be a simple bolt on operation.rotaryaddict wrote:will it fit?
As mentioned above, the M20 compressor is different to the M30 compressor, so you will either have to find a way to mount the M20 compressor on the M30 engine, or find a suitable M30 compressor. You may also find the A/C hoses are the wrong length etc, so possibly more work there.
I've managed to fit A/C in my car, and it's running an S50 (E36 M3 engine), so anything's possible with work.
Ian.

use p2 or p3
with an m535i radiator
and the e30 a/c condensor rad and fan will sit in their original place in front of the m535i rad
the standard a/c electric fan might not be up to cooling both a/c rad and water rad though?
other than this, as Ian says I haven't seen an e30 a/c comp that fits the mounts on the m30 engine, so the m30 compressor is probably the best option. I suspect the e30 compressor pipe unions will fit the m30 compressor, having seen one recently, but that's not definate!

yup
p1 needs a custom radiator to fit inside the front mask
not a clever idea! and you definately wouldn't be having A/C

Hmm just been looking on reolm from what i can work out all e30/e34 compressors are the same apart from if there r134a or r12 (old illegal refrigerant); part number; 64 52 8385712 (r134) or 64 52 836 2550 (r12)
The mountings however do differ from m10, m40, m20 and m30 so it maybe just a case of getting new mountings and pipework.
Hopefully it is just the mountings....

i had an m10 comp and an m20 comp
both pre facelift
and they were totally non-interchangeable
different compressor casing design, no way the mountings would swap over

Could one be r134a and r12?
Your probably right though.
Think my best bet is to compare my m40 one with a m30 one at somepoint... Or when i get a m30 get one with aircon!
