Picked up an M30 airbox for it now from Cook(cheers Paul) so im going to fit that in place of the itg filter.
Also realigned the exhaust slightly to get it sat in the rear valance a bit better, picky I know but looks much better now from behind
Electric fan to wire in next as although ive done around 70 miles in it so far and it hasnt once gone over halfway but for how long so thats now priority.

No worries bud!
Your exhaust does sound fruity. I really need to sort mine out
You should be fine in this sort of weather with no fan, if in doubt heaters on! Just get it sorted asap really

Tony my fan only works when sat in traffic for a long time . when you have air flow though the rad you shouldn't need the fan . I will sort the fan wiring with you asap and i have said i will help Paul sort his too . maybe a BBQ and sort some wiring one weekend
As said no signs of it getting hot yet so looking good for when the fan is done anyway.monkey wrote:Tony my fan only works when sat in traffic for a long time . when you have air flow though the rad you shouldn't need the fan . I quiet fancy the challange of doing mine anyway.
At the end of the day ive chopped and wired loads of looms now with success so shouldnt really be phased doing it.
Only thing that puts me off is last time I tried wiring the twin speed in my first M50 the thing never worked right so ripped it all out and had dash mounted switch.
Pauls didnt go well when we did his either
3rd time lucky perhaps?
Who has got the wiring diagram for it?Might make a start on it.
BBQ sounds good though Matt, might as well make the most of the good weather.
We should get a littlew local meet going somewhere, maybe next weekend?

Aye, the wiring diagram i used had the wrong connections on the relayeko wrote:As said no signs of it getting hot yet so looking good for when the fan is done anyway.monkey wrote:Tony my fan only works when sat in traffic for a long time . when you have air flow though the rad you shouldn't need the fan . BBQ sounds good to me, not sure what the weather will be like though in the coming weeks. Its supposed to be crap at the moment.

I now have a working twin speed fan
Low speed cuts in just after the halfway mark but it only reached that temp by sitting idling for ages. When driving it doesnt get quiet that high so doubt the fan will see much action anyway.

Thanks mate.
Exhaust sounds really good. Was a bit worried it might be too loud at first due to the lack of front boxes but it turned out well.
Tax ran out the other day so will be retaxing it this week then itll be back as a daily driver

How does it feel with the M52 slugger in there?
First 200 miles completed with no hassles
Exhaust has quietened down a bit now too.
I fitted a Z3 1.9 gearshift but it is still like the standard E30 gearchange so ill get a 2.8 one or something similar to swap it over with.
Got my E46 up on Ebay too which will give me some pennies back so I can buy Cecotto`s LSD.
Hopefully if there is enough change left I might go and get a price on having the bodywork tidied up a bit around the edges.

what gearbox and diff are you running?
Standard diff with e36 box? If so how bad is the gearing?

What is the standard ratio 1.8 diff do you know?
As I'm running e36 box and standard (for now) diff.
PS
Your exhaust looks amazing!

standard 1.8 diff is 4.10 if it was an auto it could be a 4.27 both are small case diffs and i cant see either of them lasting very long.
you will max out @ 125 mph but get there quickly while the diff lasts and i wouldn't fancy swapping petrol bills.

It will only be just to tide me over for a while, and the car wont be used daily anyway.
Thanks for the help.
3.25 LSD on its way from Cecotto so should be with me sometime next week.
Also ive been and got a couple of quotes to tidy up a few small scabs, some on the N/S/R arch lip and few under the rear windscreen.
First came in at £300 and second was £275 but that would include the sideskirts/iS lip/lower rear valance too.
Ive provisionally booked it in at the second place to go in next Friday but will look around a bit more first I think.
Its also devoloped an annoying clunk from the front N/S wheel just after coming to a stop.
Sounds like it could be antiroll bar or possibly droplink related so ill have a poke around over the weekend.
Are the front and rear or both antiroll bars from a 320i convertible an upgrade on the standard 316i Touring ones?
If so I can get a pair for nothing so cheap upgrade possibly?

No guessing who we (work) own then.
Yes im thinking the same, but could just be knckered droplink although these were renewed along with the wishbones just before I bought the car....cheap parts perhaps?pauldeacs wrote:maybe the front ARB mount is cracked. i had this on my 320. Lee (ladylumps) is overjoyed with the e46 btw, i enjoyed driving it back. my e30 felt like a frickin antique to drive when i got back in it
Glad he is happy with it,done me well for the month or so we had it.Had a grinder to the front springs yet??

no hes talking about buying proper lowering springs, I told him hes going soft. first thing he plans on doing is sorting the engine issues i belive, it was chuffing plumes of smoke out the side of the bonnet on friday lol.
