Help.... have lost my keys. BMW charged me £30 for a replacement key using the chassis no but that doesn't work either. I accept the door locks could have been changed but I know for sure the boot lock's original. Have tried filing down the rough edges of new key but to no avail.

Seems like I'm going to have to sacrifice a lock to even know if I'm going to need an ignition barrel as well...or can I assume that if the new key won't open any doors or boot that it won't work in the ignition?

Final question - if I'm to sacrifice a lock and dont wan't to risk any other damage to my pride and joy - which one and what's the safest way of doing it?! Please feel free to pm me with any sensitive info......thanks v much

Front windscreen out is easiest without causing damage.

Given the amount of stolen E30's of desirable spec in the London area at the moment,if this is your area, you may just be the next victim.

Not so much mis-laid keys,as perhaps removed by some-one who wants your car?

If it is currently parked on a London area street,I would remove a couple of wheels, just for peace of mind!

I would've thought you could call a locksmith out that would be able to help you out there maybe. As long as you've got the log book I'd have thought they'd do it.

Pop the barrel out and take it to an auto lock smith, with a blank BMW key. Job done :D

Id have thought popping the window out without breaking it will be pretty tough without being able to push from the inside of the car?

If they were all the same key before, they're all the same key now.

It wouldn't be too surprising if the door locks had been changed out at some stage but ignition barrel is less likely. Don't like to raise the possibility, but could the car be a ringer and you've got keys from BMW that fit the car whose identity was stolen for it?

Best best is to take a lock barrel to a locksmith as said above.
