Hi Guys,
todays i changed my fan belt n power steering belt and flushed the whole cooling system!
I then took it for a quick spin, everything was running fine!
Then all of a sudden as i tried to turn around, i put it into reverse and NOTHING!!!
it just revs but is milimted to the revs! even when i put it into park or netural, it only reves a certain amount!
it will drive forwards without any problem!
is this a common problem on the auto and what can be done to resolve this as im getting a bit worried about the cost!!!
the car is a 1988 'F' 320i auto 3door! with 155k on the clock!
320i AUTO WILL NOT GO INTO REVERSE!!!

Don't laugh. I've seen it happen.
If you operate the throttle from the throttle body as opposed to the pedal, does it rev?

Yes. Check the kickdown switch at the throttle pedal.

Sounds like it might have come out of its bracket.

No. The bracket that the kickdown switch attaches to. If you try go activate the kickdown at the pedal - without the engine running - does it feel right? Can you feel the switch operate? Take a look. I've seen the switch separate and come out of its location.
