It was a tps/icv plug mix up causing the problems, He's sorted it now. Might even see it at pod.

i did have rear tyres down to the belting when i got back though

then i broke my computer when i got back! doh! :D

Had a relativly good start, got the M30 fully built back up ready to drop in. Started pulling the tourer apart so no going back now

This is the first auto I've worked on and god there's a lot of extra gubbins for the switchable box and looks like I'll be pulling the inside out to trace back and remove the loom

Lunch time today..

Had a bit of a slow day yesterday thanks to changing the pedal box out for a manual one so didn't get much done. Does anyone know which direction the auto wiring loom goes as I want to rip it all out.

Image

I did manage to get the old engine out which felt good..

Image

Today however was a succesful day and the engine is now bolted in and most things done, just beed to double check things like which way round for the
fuel lines & heater matrix goes and then fit the exhaust, do the fluids and a few other little things - no more than a days graft

Engine going in.. Then out”¦. Then in did it 3 times to get the bulkhead adjusted for clearance.

Image

Image

I've got an issue though as this car has aircon I can't use my original AC rad as the bottom section touches the Ac compressor, I'm going to use my
normal E34 rad but I now have the problem that it doesn't have a water temp sensor bung. Anyone got any ideas as to how I can get round this??
Does the fan always come on with AC when you switch it on? If it does could I not just switch it on whenever the temp rises (stationary traffic and the like)
until I can source a better rad?

Image

Image
How it was left today..

Image

Image

Not sure if I'm going to fit the sebring or scorpion yet?? I'd rather a standard system so will most probably look out for one.

Image

Got to go to work tomorrow so will get it finished at the weekedn - don't you love bank holidays winkeye

My temp sender is screwed into the thermostat housing. Not ideal but in practice it works fine :)

Haven't driven the M30 since last august and really miss it... feeling excited is the understatement of the century winkeye

Been another productive day, had fun with the exhaust manifolds and steering linkage again as I forgot to change the linkage for the one that clears my M30 mani's :( . Cruise control and AC all hooked up icely to the M30 donk which was nice, I was expecting issues. All that's now left is to extend the fan plug connection to the new position of thermo housing and then clutch fluid, oil & filter, attach AFM... not long till it's started but still have to pull the interior half out to remove all traces of the auto wrongness.

Got a battery relocatoin kit up in the attic so will at some piont move the battery to the back so I can refit my 324td washer bottle, will a spare tourer rear water bottle for the interim.

Looking forward to tuning the key winkeye

And she's alive again :woohoo: first turn of the key and it fired up.. god I love the M30 stil need to re-adjust the exhaust and sort out the issue with the brake pedal switch but other than that it's drivable. winkeye

Rad fan switch works perfectly in it's new position - cheers fellas :thumb:

Had issues with the air filter box due to the AC pipe work so have had to do a bit of a bodge until I can source/construct a proper setup. oldroydsr4 came to rescue with the pictured filter (great having another zoner 200 yards from your own front door) so at least I can drive it on tuesday for work. Going to get some ducting in the morning..

Spent a lot of today tracing and removing the blooming auto looms!!

Took it out for a spin yesterday and it feels better than the first time, had to bleed the coolant again but all is good - Sits around the 1/2 mark which I'm happy with.

It does feel a little strangled with the small filter on so am on the look out for a suitable replacement - it's quite nice still having the full intensive wash/wipe :D

Got my normal 50mile commute today so hopefully she'll fare well and I'll make it home after work LOL

Running issues sorted, turned out to be an airlock of sorts... still it's now got a new waterpump and thermostat just for good measure... sits perfectly at 1/4 out on a run and just under 1/2 when stuck in traffic which is what it use to do :D

Went out for a blast (well 3 in total) and god I've missed it, makes the other half 325i tourer feel like a snail winkeye

Going to replace the scorpion "howler" with an oem front and backbox, managed to find a 2 year old oem backbox with shadowline trim (normal 325i items), really looking forward to the subtle noise again.

Still need to find an alternative airbox/filter setup as it does feel strangled at higher RPM's due to the current setup.

The M30 aircon pulley is slightly larger than the E30 item so even at idle it's spinning the compressor a bit faster and the AC feels even colder which is nice this time of year.
