Reasonably simple nut and bolt job.
To do properly you will need to get the carpet out so that you can trace/remove/adapt the various wiring bits and bob's related to the auto fitment.
Pedal box will need swapping, and you will need to fit a bracket for the clutch fluid holder thingy.
After sorting the wiring issues, the next tricky job will be lifting the manual 'box in...do not forget to fit a spigot bearing into the end of the crank!
May even be easier to do if combined with an engine re-build,dead easy to swap a 'box with the lot on the garage floor, and will make running the clutch pipework/brackets easier, too.

Biz I worked for went pop just before Christmas so pretty much sold everything I owned to pay bills...sob sob, lol. Want to buy it back but the guy is an a hole and wants 4k for it, he's not short of a few quid so he won't bend on it. Looks awesome now too, had just had the wheels powder coated and coilovers all round.

If this is a switchable auto, don't swap it. I did the swap on my old motorsport convertible and regretted it. The switchable auto box is really good, you can use the gears like a manual.
It can easily be converted to manual, but atleast give the auto box a try before converting.

Bear in mind that the Motorsport convertible is a rare and sought after model so if its one in nice unmolested condition then converting to manual would devalue it.

I think swaping mine lost some of the value of it.
