Done some more bits yesterday.

Fitted a couple of new parts, new oil seperator and connecting pipes, as after 14 years of oil sitting in them, they generally get waste away and these where no different. Also fitted a new water temp sensor (m20 one still to be fitted next to it). Also fitted the LHD water pipe and polybushed the rear axle.

Pic of the ARP's in place, also fitted new bearing shells at the same time.

Got the sump back from being baffled...





So on with fitting the new oil pump and pick up...




Then for a good old cleaning session of the engine, came up really good. Decided I'm going to get the rocker cover and spark plug cover refreshed aswell.






So out with old M20, which has already found a new home in Jasons PBMW race car.




Something missing..



Also got the 5 conversion done, pics to follow of that.

Where did you source the clutch from if you don't mind me asking? Is it M20 or S50?

Of course I don't mind you asking. Its for an S50 flywheel, it came from CA.

The cover will need to have some strong springs to hold the drive plate, ive tried this with standard new Sachs clutch parts and it just slipped at high revs

Small Update...

Gave the engine bay a good clean down...



Came up pretty well with little effort...



Also fitted the M3 Evo fuel pump into the E30 housing....


Servo relocation has been done, though to anyone planning on doing this you can't use the clio servo as the 4 studs are not long enough to bolt the nuts on, when you also have 2 3mm plates either side of the firewall, very annoying as I spent half an hour sanding down and painting it!! Anyway Mk2 Golf 1.3 servo is on route. Pics of this to follow.

Hoping they'll be a few updates this week as Rob has been busy the last couple of weeks working on several PBMW cars getting them ready for the season, so should see alot of progress this week

Done a few things this week...


Its in!!






Ignore anything that isn't connected, done up etc

AKG engine mounts work really well.





Gearbox mount.. Used E36 M3 6 speed gearbox rubbers and standard M20 gearbox support, all bolted straight on..



Also had to do a couple of things to the M3 clocks..

First off take it apart.. really didn't like doing this to an expensive set of clocks...



Swaped the fuel gauge from the one from my M20 gauges..


Then had to fit the E28 M5 coding plug. The plug is a different size to the e30 ones, so I just fit the plug into dash without the white plug cover and just wrapped it in pvc tape, all fits tight, so no worries about it falling out or getting damaged etc.

hi jonnie, great build, are you useing the front part of the evo propshaft because i am after one and also as your changeing the rear beam to a compact, did your origernal beam have a discs set up because would like that to, im in alresford so very close to you, please let me know either way mate.

Gazza, nope using an e36 328 prop. But i do have an evo prop here.. No original beam was drums.

Update time...

Exhaust is all on and very happy with it, managed to retain the standard evo centre section and the Eisenmann rear section with very little fettling.













Then onto the wiring. Such fun! Had to cut quite a bit of the wiring out that doubles back all on itself, so we could get it to fit under the 4 pot wiring cover, but is worth it.




Then onto getting the wheels on. Had to change the tyres down to 205/40's from 215/40's as didn't look right on the car and also to help fitment.

Bit or arch rolling..


Really hard to get nice photos of a car in a workshop, but I love the wheels, look so good on the car. Front arches need no work, but I want to bring the front down more and the rears weren't as much of a pain as I'd thought they'd be.




And also... she runs!!!

So basically now just need to do all the finishing touches and put it all back to together and do the last little bits.

Small update”¦

Spent the day working on the car yesterday.

Got the wiring finished and all covered under the 4 pot cover, looks really good. No just got to mount the ecu and ews boxes under the dash and tidy up things there.

Relocated the battery to the boot, thanks to the kit I got from Theo, had every nut and bolt with it, unlike the previous one I was sold!!

Hooked up the cooling system and ran the engine upto temperature, which was really nice to see. Runs spot on, no leaks, gauges working as they should with the oil temp working, made a very happy Jonnie.



Now just need to mount the header tank in postion, and fit my shiny new cam cover, spark plug cover and plenum. Also need to fit the heatsheild for the induction kit and replace the blue silicone hose for a new black one.

Then need to bleed the brakes and clutch, fill up the power steering fluid, do the tracking, do the wiring and switch for the twin pacet fans and put the interior back together.

When all that’s done, that should be it!!
