Who says lifting one wheel was for FWD wrongness...

Image

On another note, I was going to get some trackday tires such as 888's or similar, however I don't think I could take much more roll

and then one last cheeky one to show what happens when you trail brake a little too heavily :o

It is on Eibachs is it not? They are standard M3 spring rates, just lower

Yeah, it dropped off on that bend too (the road...not the wheel) which will have helped, I think I need some stiffer suspension before I go for 888's though

Engine mounts worked a treat too :D

Day was excellent other than getting stuck behind people an awful lot, stuff that should have been a lot faster too, a 944 race car with Michelin PS Cups on, lots of caged golfs etc which all had 888's on, and even one mk1 golf which was caged and had plastic panels etc which was on slicks.

I had some good battles with a few Elise's too, it was only the ones with the 888's on that were getting away, the road tired ones were slower and letting me past (eventually)

edit: and yes its on eibachs

Well you already know about the need for stiffer springs, so no need to say it..

The lifting of the wheel is why you are better off with stiffer springs than ARB's for the track..

Looks good on track though! Still need to get mine on a track day!!

I realise that, but unfortunately I can't go for Gaz Golds as this is mainly a road car too :o

Decent coilovers are not bad on the road..

Mind, I was running a 350lb front spring, 580 rear and bilstein dampers on mine, and it was great on the road and not too bad at the 'Ring also, maybe worth considering, as it'll only cost you springs..

how do they compare to the eibach -35mm that I have on?

Do you know the spring rate for them?

They were custom springs spec'd by Uwe from Falkner..

I wouldn't run Gaz coilovers for the road.. I have seen many go pop after as little as 6k and the damping is an old technology

Depends on your budget as to a solution.. Adjustable dampers are very handy to swap between road and track use..

Some cool pics there Chris, good to see it being used properly!

If you havent changed the springs since you bought it then they are H&R's not eibachs.

Roll bars are H&R also.

You'll be wanting stiffer springs... Eibach at teh end of the day is just a brand, the rate is what you need to sort..

Even with a standard front ARB & sticky rubber you can remove the majority of the role :)

I know a garage with a almost new set of Faulkner springs sitting on the shelf. I can ask for a price if you are interessted. All you need is a set of bilstein shocks and the front bump stop shortened.

Looking good, where were you?

Golds on the road with the correct spring rates are fine if you wind the damping back off.

Would having 2 sets of springs be an option for you? ie road set and track set? would mean you could have the best of both worlds and swapping springs is very easy and quick job.

For mixed use you may benefit from a front coilover with adjustable rear damper and inboard spring.

All the GAZ shocks come with a 2 year warranty and if serviced at sensible intervals will give you no problems.

Drop me a PM if we can be any further help

I was at Teesside Autodrome which is primarily a kart circuit but is getting into doing more car trackdays after they had a good response from the instructors on several of those "track experience" days where people get to drive 911's and Ferrari's around for a few laps.

It was ran via these guys

Thanks for the offer Uwe/RPM, but I am really skint, so unless you can come up with a solution for less than £200 notes or so then don't put any effort into it. :D

Uwe, what bilstien's do I need, I have B8's at the moment?

very well priced and the kart race at the end of the day is always a hoot too, but is optional incase you don't want your arms to feel like they're going to drop off the next day :o

I run my own Kart so I'm used to that, lol.
Definitely going to have to take my touring there when it's all sorted properly.....although by that time my daily driver will probably be a flying saucer.

Actually the twat nearly crashed into the side of me as he exited the pit lane and then held me up for 5 or 6 laps and wouldn't move so I blasted past on the straight as I was still annoyed (in hindsight I should have really just pulled in and calmed down/reported him for being a tool) that was the lap after I passed him, that bus stop was the only place he was quicker, it only took two laps before there was a noticeable gap between us, even though he was fully stripped out, caged, coilovered, slicks, sparco-cock everything

I guess the springs will go for much less than £200 and will work fine with the B8's you have. You can cut the bump stop yourself for now but better would be to send the shockers to Bilstein and get a shorter AND harder bump stop fitted.
I will ask my mate and see how much he wants.
but be warned, the Faulknersprings are lower on the rear than the usual H&R or Eibach combo.

PS whats behind your signature? PM please

If you are just after springs as Uwe says they will be much less than £200

We can supply any spec spring, but it sounds as if Uwe has them ready to roll. If you need bump stops and Uwe knows the length I'm sure I can "loose" a set for you.

only Bilstein can change the bumpstop reliably (upside down damper with the bump stop in the cartridge). Cutting down the existing one is not too difficult, but replacing requires to remove the bottom flange from the shaft.
