i recently put an e36 m42 on my e30 and due to time and waiting for parts ive just finished it with some help from this forum.

the problem is that its working on 2 cylinders ONLY. Plugs are good and there is spark coming out of all leads plugs and coils that makes me think its probably fuel. Am i right? or could there be something else?

The engine used to work before i bought it and it ran fine when i first started it up with no exhaust and before i did the mess under the intake..

When driving and keeping a constant 2K revs it sometimes picks up on all 4 for 2 secs and then back on 2.

Now the ones working are always 1 & 3 the ones that are not burning fuel are 2 and 4. When idling (erraticly) if i pull out the leads for 2 and 4 nothing happens as if i didnt do anything.

I ve checked some other things and all plugs under the intake are plugged in and in their right places just like i took them out before cleaning the mess. Also the FPR next to the fuel rail doesnt effect anything when i take the vacuum hose out tough there is vacuum in the pipe.

any ideas where i should start? anything is appreciated because im totally stuck and im without a car and ive been so for almost a month. :(

have you got the leads going to the right plugs? so the firing order is right?

Well, the chances of 2 injectors failing at the same time are next to nill. You must have a bad connection to these, are they bank fired?, if not are the two in the same cluster? I wonder could the DME/ECU be a player in this?

i believe they are right no 1 coil next to the radiator and no 4 to the firewall.

to say the truth when i got it out and running a few days ago i left the car idling for a few a minutes and after some time the heater matrix (the one under the dash) blew on me and literally steamed the inside of my car and most of the coolant got inside the car and im still waiting for the carpet to dry.

this is before doing the mess under the intake and i think it was working correctly before this happened and even immediately afterwards because i had to drive it for about a minute and a half to get it back inside the garage..

and again i repeat myself i "believe" it was working correctly coz allot of things are happening at once doing a major overhaul in the car (atleast for me) and sometimes im having trouble remembering things :o:

could a single part of the ecu gone bad and not all of it? and i didnt understand the part about bank fired and being in the same cluster. could you clear that up pls?

and thanks for the all the help

Oh dear, there is a lot going on here! if you drove the car hot maybe the head gasket is gone. It sounds like you need a mechanic to look into by now.

ok i came back from work when to start it again to show a friend of mine whats going on and it started on all 4 works good for 5 secs and then goes bad is it possible the pump is not keeping up? it was an m40 before ive done the conversion.

and i checked again the FPR when i unplug the vacuum hose it increases maybe about 50 to 100 rpm. is that normal?
