Right here goes, this is my 8th 2dr 6 cylinder e30.

it was a totally standard 1990 320i SE 2dr until a month ago when i bought it. stuck it in for mot and and went straight through with only advisory being a misty rear number plate.

the maniac who had it before me paid £550 last year for a full inspection 2 at Ocean BMW Dealer inc a cambelt and tensioner change. previous to this he spent............£900 on the mot last year, basically all new brakes, all new bushes, front shocks and brake lines and a complete exhaust system! madness!!!

so anyways since then ive lowered it 60mm on springs and gas shocks, fitted a front brace, painted the front grill black and thats about it. the engine on this one is so much quieter and smoother than any of my previous 8 m20 powered e30s.

yep basically just to tidy up a few bodywork bits im not happy with (bottoms of both front wings arent great)

i also want to replace the rear subframe and arm bushes with poly ones. thats about it really. i have had a couple of tec2 sports in my time and used to think the tec2 kit was the only way to go but in recent years im feeling the love for e30s without any kind of bodykit, infact im toying with removing the SE skirts. ive never been a fan of them.

oh and some decent tyres!!! the admiral things on there are deadly in the wet, infact at uphill junctions you actually struggle to pull away in the wet!! like driving on ice

right well due to the fact that one of my mates has just bought a 3ltr z4 and another has just finished an m52 install in his e30 touring i descided this thing needed some more poke to i can give them a run for thier money at santapod this year..........

I therefore purchased a m20 2.5 engine, M52 2.8 crank, M20B20 rods, stainless 6 branch to start a 2.8 build.

To this will be added a Newman cam and some form of better management. anyways within 2 eves id stripped the engine to its component parts ready fro cleaning up, crack testing, porting etc. its gonna take a while to build this up as its amazing how much it adds up to buy time you include all new shells, gaskets, machining, water pump, oil pump etc but heres a few pics

Note the method of locking the crank (sledge hammer handle and aboat oar!) to remove the 400nm Crank bolt!!!

few pics seeing as i gave it a wash and a little video. open diffs suck.

Ive since fitted some rear beam bush void fillers. these things have transformed the handling. no more squirming and shimmy or wheel hop. excellent mod for £20ish quid

yep for deffo. newman or schrick both do some decent duration/lift cams for similar prices. the most expensive part of the whole build is the cam really

Now that im keepi9ng this rather than selling up..........

today i bought some new wheels off a mate, onlys 15" with some dish. basically it was a case of buy new tyres for my BBS or buy these which had just been refurbed with new tyres,.

I had a few issues with fitting in that the track rod end touched the inside of the wheel so need to show a grinder to the track rod end slightly as its just about rubbing the inside. also as you can see from the pic below the slightly lower profile tyre and stupidly low sump on these e30s gave me a few issues getting down to my garage!! think il be carrying a length of wood with me

german flag bit doesnt look too bad as do the wheels look nice

although silver - i think the normal lights and chrome kidney looked so much better, blacks kinda ruined the presence of the front

the photos actually make the lights look very dark, in reality they are a very light smoke, light enough that you can clearly see all the beam aim lines and writing on the glass. they just dont photograph very well.

i just think with the fact that there is no other chrome on the car the chrome grills look odd, fair enough on a e30 that doesnt have shadowline trim
