Thanks for the negative feedback bummers. :moon:

But... Unfortunately, your right... Aha.
Just been out trying to fit... After god knows how long trying to get off one bolt for the exhaust I managed to remove the old, to then find that it didnt match up with my current exhaust! Note to myself and everyone else, just because it looks the same shape, doesnt mean its gonna fit so really stare at it!

Old manifold off, I thought I would check to see if the new one would fit in... It did! But has a issue. :(

The second bolt from the bulk head at the top didnt look like I was gonna be able to actually get the bolt on. Tried and it wouldnt. :( So until I can actually get the bolt fitted, treat it as they dont fit!

Going to message them now and see what they say about it, I did ask before hand if I could have a refund if it didnt fit so should be no problem getting my pennies back, although I would prefer for it to fit!

The exhaust side of things isnt an issue as I can get a new one to fit, but I cant make it work if I cant get all the studs on the manifold. 1 shouldnt be an issue if its missing, but thats besides the point. Photos to follow in a moment.

I got them mate, just didnt put them on as it isnt perminate at the moment, just wanted to check it allcleared the steering rack etc. The thickness of the gaskets/sheilds wont make a difference though, I tried to leaver the hole thing forward to get it on and it would have any of it. The other option is to try it with the stud in the manifold and then screw it in that way, but didnt try that tonight so will do tomorrow, hopefully it works.

@Hongkongfuey - I like to hear Barry's opinion to be honest, even though I knew what he woudl say already. Everyone is ok to voice what they think. Keep it civilized! No point in getting the thread locked up.

Makes sense Jim, just didn't want to see your HT leads melted through.
These staineless manifolds don't half chuck some heat out.
When/if you manage to get it on, tighten up all 12 nuts evenly.
Hark at me giving tips. :)

Aha, thanks pal. Very much appreicated.

I do hope it fits as I do like it for the £100... Cheap and shiny is all I wanted.

If it cracks, then it cracks and I replace it all back to standard.

I cant personally justify buyning a BTB else I would have done that, Unless I could pick one up for £400-500 then it might be different but they loads more than that...

Jim, my point should have been maid more clear. The £100 would be better spent else where on most E30's.

Yeah, I understand what your saying pal, and your probably right. I just wanted something shinny to replace that rusty looking oem log. Its only £100 like I said before and they did say they can refund so its not all that bad. Also gives other people that are interested in buying one a little insight to it too.

@previous poster who said they got one and fitted it - Did you have the same issue that I have found or did yours clear the stud and have plenty of space for a bolt?

I would rather have a log manifold. At least its designed by BMW, rather than some cheap sh1te bolted to my chariot, because it looks nice.
Mega fail

Surely you leave the stud in the head, push the manifold on just enough for the nut to grab the thread, and as you tighten it pulls the manifold on. I had similar on a previous car, 1/8th of a turn at a time with an open ended spanner. Not fun
cheers,

They all came out mate like that... Bar 2 that stayed in... Gonna try to sperate them up and screw them all back in today...

Only issue im gonna have is sourcing the rest of the exhaust today. :?

Check the picture in the ad...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWNX:IT

My old exhaust where it meets the kick in the new cross over, the pipes are level on the exits with a bracket with 3 holes on it rather than just the 2...

Anyone know if this joint is from the 325 and whats its designed to fit on as im guessing the company werent making these around a 320 auto...

Jim fit new studs, copper washers and nuts from the dealer - won't be much and it will be proper.

You did well to get them all out without snapping any :)

I'll need to pop down there then before hand... Gonna try and see if I can get this stud and bolt on that one problem spot first before I buy any.. Although i'll probably need them anyway. They all came out quite easy, engine was still warm and I sprayed loads of engine degreaser on them and left it for a while, then did the same and they all just came out... A bit too easy.

Trying to figure out where im gonna find an exhaust today for it. :(

these are exactly the same as the hotuning ones, as they have the same issue with one of the studs/nuts been really close and hard to get on. solution what the previous owner did on one of my olds ones was to just cut the stud down a little making it easier to get on and not butt up against the manifold.

Just finishing fitting mine today I had some clearance issues with the lower steering uv joint it catches slightly on the corners. I changed my engine mounts and gearbox mounts this gave me the clearance that was needed. I also removed my uv joint and rounded off the corners just to be on the safe side.

I doubt i;ll be going to those extremes to get it on... New/second hand exhaust and new bolts is as far as I will go, if it doesnt fit, its going back... :?

Still not found a local exhaust system. :(

Pattern part not oem, had it fitted with a Hottuning 6 branch and a Boysen

I'd take it if the damn manifold would fit! Just attempted it again now but seems that the one stud/bolt I was on about doesnt even sit straight when in there so I can get it into the head. :?

Think it may well be going back, waiting on there reply at the moment... Hold fire on that though Rob as I may still have it yet! Might get the angle grinder out shortly and make a small mess.
