can anyone help? fan not working and strange vibrating....

i was driving home from work to day sitting in traffic and noticed the needle going up but as soon as i start moving it goes down. got out switched it off but i couldnt here the fan kick in at any point...
can any one give me some advice on how to get this fan going again?
also when i pull away hard in 1st i get like a vibrating from the middle/back of the car... does anyone know what this could be as its very anouying.

Sounds like the viscous fan has stopped working. They are relatively cheap to replace buy from ECP or GSF.

You can test the viscous fan using rolled up newspaper - get the engine up to temparature and then attempt to stop the fan with a rolled up newspaper - if you can stop the fan moving the viscous is knackered. if the fan shreds the newspaper its working and your problem lies elsewhere.

Vibration could be either propshaft centre bearing or front rubber propshaft coupling.
