I'm a firm believer that a 'M' badge should only be put on a M car. M badges on any thing else is merely a marketing ploy that devalues the brand.polsta wrote:thanks for the comments guys !
the m badge- i know its not the right one but was a couple of quid and i like it and will be ok until i source a proper e30 one
being an is, the is came from the factory with an m tech sport interior, tech steering wheel, gear knob,m tech suspension, is lip etc,and is an m tech`d up e30, so its not "wrong" for it to have an m tech grill badge on it in my eyes
so what do you class as an "m" car- can only be the m3 or m5 in that case, but the m3 has its own ms front badgeoldroydsr4 wrote:

That is correct my opinion is - 'M' Badge for'M' cars only - i.e m3, m5, m6 etc.polsta wrote:so what do you class as an "m" car- can only be the m3 or m5 in that case, but the m3 has its own ms front badgeoldroydsr4 wrote:

the is, and the sports, are M equipped cars, so why in your eyes is it wrong to put an M badge on a car thats factory equipped as standard with M technic parts and styling
no i agree with you there, any standard 316,318 shouldnt have one....but the IS , came from factory with M tec extras, like the is cloth check sports interior , which was unique to the is i belive and same as the check cloth interior of the M3 (bar the actual differences in the seat shape etc), and the m tec gear knob, steering wheel (both with M tec decals on as standard) , is lip unique to the is,colorcoded spoilers, m tec sports suspension, thus being an M equipped car,and also a different engine to the base model carbed or inj (i think?) cars being the twin over head cam 16valve m42 engine, cars and not a standard base model 318 , so really its an m tec`d up car and is not wrong to have an M badge, its got M badges on the inside as standard so its not wrong to have one on the outside either in my eyesoldroydsr4 wrote:That is correct my opinion is - 'M' Badge for'M' cars only - i.e m3, m5, m6 etc.polsta wrote:so what do you class as an "m" car- can only be the m3 or m5 in that case, but the m3 has its own ms front badgeoldroydsr4 wrote:

As far as your argument goes, if somebody bought a e36 316 auto moordoor new in the mid 90s and specced a mtech gear knob then it is aloud to wear a M badge?
Hence my argument about devaluing the M brand.
