Just another point to raise at this stage.
At York a crash helmet is compulsory, so either bring your own if you have one, or you can hire them on the day. Also you must bring your driving licence if you want to be able to race

Nice one lads, who plans to run?
Lee my clutch has died today. I got home from Teeside park meet. Had some fun there, and on the way back. It was perfect. Then went to drop the brother in laws car off at his and there was no pedal! Gutted. More work for me

Hmmm... Wonder If I can convince the Mrs... would be good to see how woefully slow my b20 is..E30BeemerLad wrote:More the merrier Mike, be it camping over for a lash up, just turning up to do a few passes on the Sunday, or just turning up to spectate.
Would like to get a good crew of E30's there, plus there's plenty more action to watch such as the american superstock stuff, crazy aircooled stuff, plenty of 9 second+ cars there, a jet car. Really friendly atmosphere. It's a bit of a dive, but the people & the racing make up for it.

Nice one Neil
This is an event which will ultimately hinge on the weather forecast a few days beforehand, if it's forecast to be pishing down then it's not worth the trip.
Good show of heros so far, anyone coming who's run at the pod will see a quicker time at York

and the pod is glued the entire length of the track, which is great if you need to put down 4000 bhp, but if you don't have that much, then it will just create more rolling resistance for the length of the track and will lower your top speedE30BeemerLad wrote:Posssibly is, but the traction off the line is just far better
York is only prepped at the start line, which means that we can get the power down and then enjoy less rolling resistance which is why 90% of people get better times at york than they do at the Pod or at Shakespeare County.
York FTW

For any general info have a look on the forum for the dragway
http://york-raceway.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=1
I'll see nearer the time whether I'll camp on Saturday or not. If there's a few others camping I may well join in the shenanigans.
Neil, in big Dave's absence, will you be knocking up some godfathers?

Is this still On?
Up here we're not allowed to see what's happening weather wise...
I take it the meet will still be on, even if raining?

There wont be any racing if its raining, and there are not many 'facilities' from what Lee has told me, I think the plan was if downpours are forecast is to rearrange to the following day
Looking at the forecast Sunday has a chance of a shower or two - http://www.accuweather.com/ukie/forecas ... E&metric=1
Monday will be a washout - http://www.accuweather.com/ukie/forecas ... E&metric=1

In typical fashion, the weather looks like it's going to turn colder after Tuesday, so I'll be keeping a close eye on it. If the Monday looks better then we could re-schedule at the last minute, or just bump it to another date. The next one is the Sunday & Monday May bank holiday on 29th & 30th May, one after that is 10th July which clashes with the pod.
