Hi Guys,
I'm looking at doing a brake swap, however I want to use as many oem parts as possible. After lots of searching online I found that the Seat Ibiza Cupra R mk1 uses 305 x 28mm discs. And more importantly the stud pattern is 4x100 the same as the e30.

I had a look in the wiki pages, however they aren't listed in there, and I wondered if there was a reason?

I want to use them with e38 brembo 4 pot calipers, so obviously I'm going to need as much space behind the rims as possible.

Any thoughts please let me know.

Cheers Chris.

Keri-WMS is the man to ask about brake upgrades, not much he doesn't know.

If it's of any help, I suspect that the Seat discs you mention will be similar to the VW discs I used (since Seat is basically VW underneath) in which case the PCD is spot on, but the centre bore is not. If you want to use these you'll likely need the centre hole opened up slightly and the edge chamfered in order to fit the E30 hub. Also, check the offset on the disc. Anything greater than 17mm (iirc) and you can land up with the inside face of the disc rubbing on the tie-rod end. Other than that it'll just be case of making up brackets to attach the callipers. If you plan to make these up from aluminium, make sure its 7075 tempered to the T6 state!

As for which rims will fit over afterwards I have no idea.

FYI, this here may be of some help to you.

Best of luck,
Geoff

Thanks for the reply. I'll send Keri a pm tomorrow.

I knew the hub would need opening slightly, but its only 1mm i believe? For the price they are Im tempted to get one and try it. there shouldnt be any difference, as far as i can see, from using the g60 corrado discs, which seems to be a tried and tested option.

As for the brackets, I'll probably just go with a hardened steel, just need to get a template sorted, once I've sorted the discs...

Cheers Chris.

I think the discs you're talking about are 5x100, I'm not sure if you could re-drill them as you would probably weaken them too much.

Hi i have been working on a brake upgrade using OEM parts I made adapters for the 305mm discs and the 312mm. For the 305mm the adapter would have to be set either above or below the normal caliper position. I found the best way was to go 312mm you can get the 4x100 discs from ebay. With the 312mm you can use E38 Calipers.

Theo, the Mark 1 Ibiza's were all 4x100 just seems the hub sizes are out. I know the leon are all 5x100 though, so would need re drilling.

Taxin, I don't suppose you have a link to te 312mm discs do you? What did you search? Also have you any pics or dimensions of the caliper brackets?

Cheers
Chris.

I had the centres machined from 65mm - 66mm cost me £20

I'm getting a batch of adapters made next month 12mm 6082 T6 Aluminium £40

Got a set of E38 Brembo calipers from ebay for £70

You can also use the calipers from the E34 540i / E32 750i

Thanks, I'll have a look. That might save me a load of hassle. I've got some e38 calipers, although I paid more than 70 quid! Have you any pics of the adapters?

Cheers Chris.

This might be of use to some of you, it's a big PDF with the dimensions of loads of different discs.

Ok so looking at that very helpful pdf, cheers blue30 should be stickied somewhere!, it seems that the seat leon cupra r disc designed for 17" wheels is almost perfect for the job. Im guessing that thats what the discs on ebay, thanks taxin, started off as. A quick look around and euro car parts have some in stock, so ill grab a set and get them off to an engineering shop to be opened up on the hub, and re drilled to 4x100, so ill report back with prices once done. £40.20 each for vented discs, doesn't seem too bad

Taxin, when are you expecting your adapters to land? Any chance I could get a set before easter weekend?

Cheers Chris.

Due to lack of funds wont be getting them made until I get my next student loan in may. I need to order 10 sets because the price for just 1 set is £90. I spoke with MTEC brakes and they can make drilled & grooved discs 312mm 4x100 with a 66mm hub for £95 + postage but that quote was for 10 sets.

well thats a bugger! I've found a local engineering shop just down the road so will ask them if you don't mind? Out of interest have you had much interest in the adapters? I'd definitely be interested if that helps?

I really can't find these 305x28mm Mk1 Ibiza discs anywhere - or the part number more to the point! There's one eBay listing and that's it - none of the mfrs seem to list it.

If it helps anyone I do supply the WMS kit discs on their own if needed - correct bore, correct PCD, ready to go:

- Replacement 280x22mm discs are £76.80+vat/pr
- Replacement 298.5x24mm discs are £91.26+vat/pr
- Replacement 300x26mm discs are £63.74+vat/pr

I thought the early Ibiza Cupras and GTi's ran the 280mm setup the same as a G60 corrado in 4x100 PCD

Hi kerri, I've got all the info at home so will stick some links up tomorrow when I'm back. I don't suPpose you do a 312mm disc do you? Ive put my name down for a group buy on adaptors for the brembos but now need the 312mm discs. They're standard on the seat leon cupra r but again 5x100 and need the hub opening up 1mm. Just wondered if you did something similar?

The info would be cool, cheers! I can do the 312mm discs but it's not something I'd keep in stock. :D

Hi, thought I'd have a look online whilst waiting for my breaky to turn up and found this. It got the dealer part number in but does seem like the discs are tricky to find.

I'll get the other info up tonight.

I just ran the numbers and plain 312x25 TT discs, bored and 4x100 drilled from me would be about £115+vat/pr - so even with a discount it's probably not competitive.

Just out of interest what make are they? When I was looking at the PDF above I thought the seat leon cupra r discs was the best starting point but not sure if that would change the price much or at all?

Cheers Chris.

The supplier I use has a range of sources, so sometimes they might be a Brembo casting - but normally there's no markings.

Not sure what you mean by the second bit!?

Ah ok. When I started looking for 312mm discs I looked at the discs from a seat leon, as the sizes are almost exactly the same. Is depth from hub to disc face. I don't know if the tt is the same but wondered if the price of a tt disc would be different to the price of a seat disc?

I suspect the TT ones will be cheaper as the Ibiza ones are dealer only by the looks of them?

Hi,
I cant find much info on the seat 305mm discs, however what I did find was that they were used on the seat ibiza cupr r 1.8t 20v model, from 00-02. I rang the local stealer, and was quoted £121.60 + vat EACH! Euro car parts fobbed me off to their mail order section, saying they didnt list them.

The seat leon cupra r and the tt discs are both exactly the same dimensions, and the prices are also the same, £40.20 each from euro.

TT:

Leon:
http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Seat_ ... 5edae&BDIS

Kerri, im not so sure that your prices are too far out to be honest. Euro want £80.40 for the pair, and I'd still need to get them drilled, and bored. Although I've just found a code "discpads15" which gives you 15% off the rrp so they would be £68.34 for the pair.

Taxin is doing a group buy for a set of adapters, to convert to 312mm discs,
http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... c&t=192838
I dont know if you could do any better for 10 sets? Just a thought.

I saw the adapters thing, I can knock a few % off or do free shipping or something if the numbers are higher - see how things go!
