Wiring cover

I am having one HECK of a time trying to cram ll of the wiring into the stock e30 wiring loom cover... Any tips?

Are you using the m40 loom cover?

mine wouldn't fit, i gave up and went for the natural look.

Funny mines fitted .i did have to trim it a bit but just the cover to clear the inlet.

Not the best pic in the world but might help.

I may just have to trim up some of the wires and use more zip ties. I suppose patients is the key...

I'm struggling to contain the madness too, does anyone have any photo's of how the wires have been tied/routed to make it easier to spot where we are going wrong?

I've seen some on a build in Ireland but they trimmed the wires down first. Which I might do when I have more time but for now they're staying as they are until it's all up and running.

Thanks for the pic DanThe, from the looks of that it seems as though quite a lot of the loom has been shortened? I know mine runs back and forth and is easily double the thickness of the loom in the pic.

I'm using one of Dan's looms that will be the reason mines fitted without issue.

What did you do with the wire that "y'd" off from where the MAF hooks up?

Do you just snip the excess length of the wires, solder them together, heatshrink and keep the joins staggered when trimming it down? Do you completely get rid of anything?

No, you need to keep the amount of soldered joints down to a minimum as they are bulky and will soon fill out any space your making. I take the wires off at the plugs and fit new pins at the required length

Fits fine on this one too with a similar trimming to what Dan does

Had to take a little extra few notches out of the cover when fitting the M50 inlet alright of course but it all still fits quite nicely

Must get me some pins for the plug, think there's a thread with part no's by Willnz, I take it they can still be used. Looks like a fun job to say the least.

I have a good lot of pins as got a 100 or so of them last time, can post a batch of them upto you if you like.
