Im about to put an M52 in my 94 M40.
Not sure what to do about the Cat/s as ill be using a aftermarket stainless system.
MOT isnt due for ages yet but something that needs thinking about.

Get chris to weld flanges onto the cat and make a removable section in the system + make a small removable pipe with flanges either side. Easy bolt on/off cat with a decat pipe for non mot moments

M52 in a '94 E30 doesn't need a cat to pass a UK MOT test.
http://www.motuk.co.uk/images/cat1.pdf
It's not an 'exact model' in the book, so tests to the 3.5% 1200ppm limits.

as mr moooooooooooooooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee states, you wont need a cat.
a clean good running m52 with decent re map in an e36 with out cats will pass an MOT.
