Whilst that is very obviously a spoof, bear in mind that in Germany elderly cars are regestered seperately as 'oldtimers',with strict limits on their usage.

The MoT testing in the UK is slowly falling into line with the rest of Europe,so how long before the German example is seen to be the correct way forward?

George was making an observation about the way the country is run from Brussels and how the motorist is continually hammered. Alles Klar?

Yes and no. Certain cities (Munich is one) requires that passenger vehicles cannot be used within the city limits without a catalyst fitted and an up to date AU sticker.......unless they are registered as a historic with an H at the end of the number plate, in which case they can. Considering almost all German cars had catalysts as standard for the last 20 odd years anyway, it's not an issue. Older cars need an emissions sticker from any TuV station attatching to the back of the car before you can enter the city. Historic 'H' cars are exempt. The TuV test weeds out the snotters, and they are gratefully snapped up by Eastern Europe.
