it is alot of effort for a 60 quid motor, but with how much iv spent and how much il sell it for i wont really be losing out, how often can you get hold of a 60 quid running e30 with minor rust and decent interior? lolpolsta wrote:seems like a lot of effort for a 316 lux for £60 but fair play for saving it

havent polished it up yet only wet and dryed a few tiny marks, also realised once i had rolled it out saw the over spray had hit the bottom of the sills due to inadequate covering so will correct that later on along with spraying the last couple of bits

so yesterday the secondhand wishbone came through with some hub nuts for the rear shafts , so set about fitting them today aswell as removing and replacing the rear shafts, with them fitted finally got to take it for a spin for the second time praying nothing would go wrong like it did the first time with the prop and diff :@, and whey hey drove like a dream! and some oomph in it as well for a 1600 thats been sat for almost a year! idled quite high but soon sorted itself out once reched operating temp, all it needs for fine running is plugs leads oil and filters. one main problem iv come across that is way out of my depth unfortunalty is the wiring im not sure if its just messy or if someones tryed fitting a cheap aftermarket alarm system and made a mess of it il let the pics do the talking with that...

for those that cant make it out the box reads ( sparkrite advanced radio controlled electronic car security system) i dunno if thats standard or not and not sure if the wiring just needs tidying up with cable ties or needs some serious rewiring but if anyone can help with this be much appreciated.

im not trying to show off my golf thats just where i happened to park it and pull the bimmer up next to it lol

picked up these mims this morning i tjink they look amazing with the dish on em, toying with the idea of stretched tyres, but thats such a common thing now not sure on what to do tyre wise anyone got an idea? also thinking bout having them professionally furbed, powder coated and maybe diamond cut rather then me just respraying em, anyone know any cheap alloy furbers in cambs area?

started with the rust in the passenger footwell, whats the stuff that you put onto a new section to prevent rust and to clean up the section aswell? also all the rubber stuff thats inside the foot well what is it? and can i get more to layer over the new patch?

i did actually weld up the rust but seem to have lost the pic will upload one next time

Nice work there mate, would be nice to see the repair work on that rust though.
Also, did you check the bulkhead for rust? ie, behind the glovebox and also behind the pedal box on the drivers side? Many E30's have fallen victim of this recently...

How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

so cracked on abit more with the rust removal and welding in the new sheets, before you go into it, just bare in mind im still a novice with welding and yes i did use some steel sheets i found lying around my lock up, not the greatest to use for renewal but its all i got and being a student cant afford alot else lol
passenger footwell, apologys for the poor quality pics, camera phones there crap lol

passenger side inner arch, was a bugger for space to weld and positioning , didnt want to have to take the wing valance and strut out again just because i put them back on the other day, ah well will teach me to rush things i suppose.

i done all the welds bar a couple small ones, on top rather then underneath because every time i got into a good position for it underneath the sparks from the welder kept setting me on fire, plus the fact cained my neck trying to see what i was doing lol
i know it looks like a right mess at the moment but its only a small percent done as i ran out of mig wire, and my local shop for it is about a 20 mile drive each way, so will finish it off on thursday as its pay day aswell! lol

whey hey road legal!!

.....and after a couple of hours of driving..

no worrys tho, felt a slight vibration in the steering, and pulled slightly to the left, using my colleges laser tracking equipment to get it all sorted for free being the jammy bastard i am
lol
also stuck new plugs leads filters and oil while i had the tools out running much better, but im still not convinced its running as well as it should be theres some noises one being the release bearing which i really wont have the time to sort now this is the only car iv got oh well.
still loads to be done with this main one being getting the tyres for the mims once i have resprayed them, may consider sorting the stance and raising it i think its too low for my tastes also bottoms out in the parking lot due to a raised ramp bloody council
excuse the vw wheels

yeh passed fine did get adviserys on some rust near the rear arch which was spottable as soon as it was up on the four poster, only missed it seeing as all i got is axle stands lol and the offset on the vw steels cause it to rub on the struts which would of been a fail but know the guys up there and they know i wont take the piss, other then that, that was it
