hi guys ok here goes. when i bought my cabby the last owner had the car compleatly delocked. so it just opens off the alarm fob. and that works fine. but!! over the last few weeks when we have rain and the car has been sitting on the drive, it does not open off the fob, only after a few hours. its clearly rain getting in there to do this but what could be the cure and also has this happened to anyone else. im realy thinking of getting 2 new doors and a new bootlid. thanx b.

If the problem appears in both doors and boot at one time then the problem should be found in the central control unit - it's getting wet. Find where it is located and make sure it remains dry in any wather cinditions.

Central locking ECU is inside the cill under the driver's side footwell speaker. Right near where the sunroof drains end.
If the drain slots in the cills aren't clear then it will waterlog.

Is it the central locking which isn't working, or the door opening system?

If the door resizes in the wet then the only conclusion is that you have wooden doorsblacksoul wrote:hey thanx guys some helpfull &funny advice there:). well its a convertible so it does not have the gutters, but the rain is getting in someplace. its not the alarm at fault. it just seems like the door catches are siezing up in the rain. i will have a good inspection this weekend weather permitting and of course if i can in the car lol. thanx again b.

the most coming problem is water in the wiring plug on the a post. pull the rubber boot off, squees 2 plastick lugs together & pull, the connector should seperate. wash out connector pins with wd40 &clean any green corosion of the pins. if any of the pins snap.you will have to solder new wire in & bypass the pins. the wire can be threaded through a hole in the plastic wirring conector. (check bothe doors) if door wirring is o. k. check relay. under o.s. front speaker.remove speaker, remove2 screws under speaker, remove plastick cover for relayin hole under speaker,(if still there) remove relay & check for water ingress.
