also all the shadow trim/gutter/black around the wide windows im going to get re painted satin, its a bit faded and marked

remove bumpers and gve a clean up behind, and i really want a mint set of bumper trim if anyone can help ?

a couple of tiny dents need pushing out

and then its on to the engine bay, want the covers polished up , and get the injectors cleaned and a new spark plug cover strip and new hoses

not a great deal to do, but shes looking nice

Nice. Nothing like a bit of attention to the details in my view. :D

This is definitely a thread to remember if anyone starts talking about "improving" the look of the E30 with eyebrows, big skirts, unusual paint jobs, big rimz, and so on. Just give it a clean, and see how good it looks! This one looks fab.

them eyebrow things have no place on an e30

like you say- you can exhert energy, time, money on an e30 doing the bits like you mention, all sorts of things like big exhausts, angel eyes, m tech sport kits on a non sport car, changing this that and the other

or.. you can spend the time and money and love hours- making it nice, cleaning and improving it,bringing it back to its very best, which is making it nicer, improving, but in a much better and more satisfying way

that car is 21 years old, last few days ive been driing it around, parking it up amongst new cars ,looking at it a lot, overtaking cars and various new bmws on the motorway and here there n everywhere- and its simply not like a car of its age, had a lot of looks and glances and head turns, its a fabulous car,and it will onlky get better and better over coming months as i seek to improve it

front and rear valance, rear bumper, both sills,is lip and tech 1 spoiler, wing mirrors and bases, all given fresh paint, and then 3 whole full hard working days ive spent getting that shine and clarity of the panels, hard work, but so so worth it, and when i had it at the meet on sunday morning it shone and looked real nice, and all the nice comments and attention it got, along with the comments on here, make it all worth while and raise a smile

thanks fellas

thanks everyone, its nice to read the appriciation, your right it looks so much much better in the flesh, you cant really see the clarity and shine of the car in the photos as nice as it it in the flesh

the car sits on bilsteins and ebach spring suspension, not sure of the drop, but it sits lovely and with the strut brace- it drives super aswell, engine is smooth and faultless and pulls like a train and performs well

also being the schwartz- it looks different in different lights, from a nice grey in some bright light to a deep black at night, really pleased with how its come up

really cant wait for the gold with polished lip bbs wheels to come back, will really set the car off with the mud flaps fitted too, and once all the black trim around the windows is done and the pressed plates, then the dealer set (will have to see what set of plates look best) ,cple of little dings pushed out too, and the car should look stunning and il be a proud owner of a lovely e30

i had a little practice with sanding/primer/paint, with some scuttle vents, and they came out lovely, so...

today- been out and purchashed some bumper trim filler stuff you mix up and smooth in like filler, ive cleaned, rubbed down, and applied this to the chips and deep scratches and blemishes (on a spare set i had, that wasnt good enough to put on the car) , which is currently drying now , so in half an hour, it will be ready to rub down, then get smooth, and il see how it looks

ive got plastic primer and black bumper trim paint, and laquer, so hopefully il be able to get them looking like new, and save £200, lets be honest £200 for a set of plastic trim, is an absoloute joke, £100 would still be expensive, and only just about justifyable, 200 is ridiculous really , someone at the meet said euro parts sell it, but tried them and had no joy

il post some pics when ive finished the job, the rear bumper was re painted last week, along with the rear valance which had a bit of light bubbling sorted, so the trim lets it down up close, although it looks ok, i want it looking pristine, if im going to do the job on the car i just aswell do it all properly and see it through, then enjoy the car for years to come

if you do a search tech 1 vs tech 2 with my username, youl find a thread that i tried both spoilers, was still getting used to e30s and learning about them, glad i went for the tech 1, car looks so much better, particularly from the rear, and the side- its a superb spoiler

on an original tech 1 sport,it looks better with the black rubber, which is an old school look, but as the is has a color coded standard heck spoiler and lip, and the color of my car,and the rubber on the spoiler wasnt amazing being maybe 25 years old, and the paint needed doing- i thoughht id get the rubber color coded, and think it looks superb on my car, love tech 1 spoilers, they are going up in price, think i paid £70 for mine a year ago, now see people asking £125 for one that needs paint and £150 for nice onces, so get one sooner rather than later coz they might go up futher as time passes

tech 1- the way forward for sure

3 hours of sanding later, the arms aching but the bumper trims are looking smooth and nice, had enough for today, what a ball ache rubbing down through the grades is, hopefully it will pay off and save me £200

awsome wheels, thats what mine were like, but needed a refurb, so bought the ones that are on the car now, having the other set refurbed gold centres and caps, polished lip, - didnt see the point in having 2 sets silver, blac/polished is quite common, thought gold might look mint on the car

its got bilstein shocks and ebach springs 8)

i really cant wait for it to be 100% finished on the outside and looking how i want, should be supreme, learning a lot too, which is a good thing

I think £200 is quite reasonable really when mudflaps cost raround £100 and once fitted I won't have to worry about cracking filler or flaking paint.

Not a dig your car looks great better than mine but each to their own 8)

i do agree mate that it would be nice to have them for £200, i did spend £100 on a set of mud flaps and got them still in the packaging un opened ready to go on the car,- the mud flaps are at least a bit of quality and you can feel they are nice and decent with a nice fitting kit, and feel 100 worth, but think £100 for 3 bits of light plastic rear trim which are nothing to hold, and £100 for 2 front bits, is expensive , i think id be even more paranoid about scraping/marking £200 brand new trim, than about damging painted refurbed onews, least that cost a couple of quid in paint, than £200, and could easily be touched up, to be honest i have no idea if il even like the trim painted and be happy, and its only spares not from on the car, than im having a stab at it to just see what it turns out like, if it looks good then bonus and il see if it lasts a year, if it looks nice for a year then good job, put off a year having to spend £200 or all il do anyway is just keep on the constant lookout for some really nice trim to pop up for sale on bumpers and buy it , bumpers fetch £20-40 each say, nice bumpers with nice trim, il get a couple of spare bumpers out of it

i only want the car looking the best it can, but its also where and what to justify spending, if i hadnt spent out on other stuff and more i want to get too- id of spent the 200 on trim, wel see what happens, one day the car will have perfect trim, hopefully the paint will look decent and il be pleased as punch with it and get a year or 2 out of it

The problem is that the clips on the trims break when you try and remove them from the bumpers, if you can find bumpers in the right colour with undamaged trims that's probably your best option.

ive been waiting/looking for ages, months and months now and not had much luck, if bumpers off and your careful ane use a flat end screwdriver, you can get them off ok, i think1 clip broke, which on 20 year old plastic isnt bad

just gave them 1st coat of primer, not sure if they will come out decent or not, wel see , but had nothing to loose, il be very happy if they look really good and get a year or so from them /time to find decent replacements whilst still improving the look of the car

not the plates, but a 1990 brochure with a H reg diamond schwartz is on the front same year as mine, what a lovely little catalogue, its pristine condition was £6.99 i think, bargain, car looks glorious new like that, in loloking at my car the past few days looking really nice- i imagines to myself what a god feeling it would of been to have paid £17000 for it and what it would of been like
