Thing is, it is probably overkill having the adjustable rear beam for a 40mm drop, the geometry/ camber is unlikely to be that far out of whack, so I think I'm just going to stick with a stock rear beam.

Yeah the Golf is getting bigger engine swap & new box, plus general mechanical overhaul, followed by full respray with later 90 spec bodykit etc.

Once that's done i can revert to E30 fiddling

I'm off to have a look at an almighty workshop tomorrow night.

A guy in the VW scene local to me has loads of cars and a crazy amount of parts. After looking for a lockup he has decided to go on a grand scale and rent a full on industrial unit which has room for about 40 cars. There's already a ramp in there and some other tools, but plans on getting a blast cabinet installed and loads of other trick bits.

£100 a month all in and no riff raff allowed up there.

Can't wait as it sounds an excellent idea. There will probably be about 10-15 of us in on the deal.

Just had another chat with the dude, nursing a pan handle right now.

There's a 2 post lift in there at the mo, but they are getting another 2 poster sorted and a 4 poster, plus a spray booth and loads of other kit. There's a car trailer which can be borrowed also (subject to availability). Can't wait to take a look later tonight.

Had a play about under the rear end this afternoon. Had an annoying clonk for a while, which i think has been the anti roll bar. The uprated one I have does not have pigtail ends like a standard one, so you have to put a bolt through the drop link top rubber. I think my bolts were a bit too small for the hole in the ARB, so there was a bit of slack. Bigger bolts seem to have sorted it.

Whilst I was under there I thought I may aswell fit the Eibach springs. These are the 35-40mm drop instead of the 55 I am running.

So it now sits with the arse in the air. May help the old slag to get off the start line tomorrow at the strip.

Bodywork, grrrr. Although she looks a shiny old girl after her trip to the koso car wash, the rust is taking over and I'm going to need to get something looked at soon.

Glad you stuck with it!

PS - Dont put big bumpers on your golf, facelift with small bumpers FTW! Use the extra money on the e30. :D

Dan put the carsoft on the turd today at the drag strip.

Showed an error code for the vanos, saying that it is being lazy. Suggests knackered seals, so will be paying him a visit to sort them out.

As posted elsewhere, the car today ran a 14.0779 @ 96.59mph. The 0-60 timing equipment gave a best of 5.63secs, pretty chuffed with that.

The only running issues I have at present are the revs don't die down very quickly (never have done) and it fluctuates at idle a bit, which could be an air leak.

Also, the bottom end grunt has gone a bit if you plant it, where as if you feed it in gradually it seems to hook up a lot better. Vanos seal needs doing, so I'm going to get that ordered from Dan and will sort it eventually.

Engine swap on the Golf to do first.

Engine swap on the golf!? I thought this would be the last engine swap for a long time!

Sounds similar to my running issues tbh. Mines been diagnosed with a faulty throttle position switch though.

Fitted a tec1 rear spoiler to the turd tonight, not sure I actually like it. Being a black car (and filthy) it doesn't stand out that much compared to on Mick's white galvaniser.

Vanos seals arrived from Dan the other day, so going to have to find some time to sort replacing those, but need to order the front gasket from the stealers first. I'm doubtful I'll do it before the pod as I'm close to getting the engine swap in the golf ready for action and I want to get a move on with that.

Soarer needs to go now as I managed to damage it even more the other night when moving it up the driveway (caught the passenger front wing on the wall of the house) grrrr

Mine is a V8, but you can get 3ltr N/A straight 6 and also 2.5 twin turbo straight 6 and also 2.5 VVti Single turbo straight 6, plus 3 different types of suspension, coil, air and full active with 4WS.

They are incredibly well built cars and very well engineered, but they are cruisers, unless you go mad with mods on a TT, in which case you may aswell buy a supra by the time you're messing about with coilovers etc.

Mine is a pov spec V8, so no leather or TV and it's on coil suspension rather than air. Had it 5 years and to be honest it's the best car I have ever had, just leaves you a bit cold though in that it does everything without a fuss, but a 1700kg auto barge is no back lane bandit.
