in my pre-facelift cab the windows are not activated when the doors are opened. The interior light turns on when the doors are opened but thats it, why i ask is on my mates facelift cab they turn on and are also activated when the boot is opened,

i have checked the wiring behind the door switch (drivers side) and it has 2 pins, one is brown/purple & other is brown/blue, is this correct? pics would help if anyone has any,

thanks

The facility for the windows to work with the ignition off and doors open wasn't fitted to E30s for all markets, but the presence of the brown/blue wire suggests yours has it fitted, since this is the wire that controls the circuit.
First of all check fuse 28, and if this is OK, remove the cover over the top of the glovebox, disconnect the straps of the glovebox, swing it down, and look for a (usually) blue relay on the left hand side. Check that the red/yellow wire coming from it is plugged into the corner of the accessories socket.

If it's a SA import then it may not have the little sub circuit, then. Brown/blue should appear at the passenger door, but if it's also at the boot, that's not a good sign!
Some markets have a wire from the pin switches to the ignition switch, which presumably is for some kind of "you've left the keys in the ignition" warning or similar, but I've no details of this.
If you don't have the little sub circuit, you should be able to get one cheaply enough from one of the E30 fraggers on here. It's only essentially a relay in a socket with a few bits of wire, but the plugs on the ends of the wires are what it would be difficult to source DIY.

You sure? I've never seen this before, and there's no provision on the sub loom for it.

all sorted now turned out to be a dodgy relay, with regards to the brown/blue wire in the boot i'm not sure either as in my case opening the boot does not activate the windows, i will investigate my mates facelift wiring to confirm what is going on. In the boot there deffo is a brown/blue wire hooked to the light and in the passenger side footwell i have a spare brown/blue connector? have not checked for continuity yet and will up update when i get a chance,

thanks
