I really would like to do the M60 3.0l V8 conversion in my touring but i have a few questions about it.

1. What sort of money do the conversion kits sell for? (i.e engine, box, loom, ancilleries etc etc)

2. as it is a much bigger engine and box, is there much cutting on the shell itself needed? (i.e will i need to chop the tunnel and make bigger?

3. i'm guessing i'd need custom mounts, fanimold etc etc?

4. has anyone done it on here and can comment on the pros and cons of doing the conversion?

5. is it a viable conversion to do at home or is it better to get a proffesional? I've done a few engine swaps in my time and have a mechanic friend who helps me literally with everything.

Sorry to drone on with the questions... just really want to think it all through properly before jumping in to do it only realising its more work than first thought.

Thank you :)

This engine appears to be a bargain!

I'm no expert on this conversion, but surely you would want a 4.0L one? or are you looking for it to be economical? :D

Lots of info available also on other E30 forums such as r3vlimited and e30.de

Actually the 4-litre is virtually as economical, as it has enough torque that it does not have to be floored all the time to get the car going..
Anyways, the 3-litre is also a good engine, just no idea putting it (else than taxation / legislative reasons) as the 4-litres are same price.

Did you drop the front subframe?
