cut the sheet to the size required, mix some of the resin and hardener, use the mix to attach the fiberglass.
Pete don't care about colour, He would shag a rainbow if he could find the end of it....

Surfaces should be free from debris , clean, dry and a little rough.
place the mat on a piece of cardboard and poor the resin over the mat.
then lift the mat to the repair point with the aid of a spatula like tool.
then use the brush to 'dab' the mat into place.

I have done repairs on my boat and a few others with good results.
go to shops and buy a couple of small aluminium foil tray (like the ones you get your frice in from a take away!)
buy a couple of cheap half inch paint brushes. get some plastic gloves, and if your not into getting high a face mask, (why do you think surfers and boat makers are always happy and die in their thirties!)
cut the matt to roughtly fit the area to be glassed, if anything go 10-15% bigger.
mix a small amount of resin and hardener catalyst takling care to get the mixture ratio right. the catalyst will be approx 3-5% of the resin but instructions will tell you exactly.
mix the resin and catalyst good for a minute with clean lollypop stick, then use the paint brush to paint a small amount of resin around the area to be glassed, then lay the fibreglass onto the resined area, and as said by smithy then use the brush to dab the remaining resin onto the matt, in a stabbing motion so that the glass is saturated, dont worry if the matt comes apart.
the resin will go hard very quickly hence why i suggest only mixing small amounts at a time especially if you have more than one repair or more than one layer of glass fibre to lay down. if it begins to go like jelly it is already useless.
once its hard, sand it down carefully as there can be spikes of fibreglass sticking up at first and you'll be itching for weeks if that get in yer skin.
then paint it if you need to.
if you can spot the two repairs i did with this technique on my hull i will send you one pound! If you can spot the reason i damaged the thing in the first place i will send you another!!- (Clue its toward the front of the boat!!)

If you are not a regular with glass fibre wear rubber gloves
They are easier to take off than resin stuck to your fingers.
