Has anyone got a template for fitting extra gauges?
Was going to put them near the ashtray but having second thoughts about that.
So has anyone got a template theyve made to fit them in the centre vent?
Also how do you remove the vent without damaging it so it can be refitted if nessarsary.

Cheers Eko :D

Center vent is best mate. I did that a while back.

Ylui can get it out easy enough, i think if i remember rightly, i had to take the side of the glove box panel out, so that i could help push the center vents out from behind, but they should prize out without too much trouble.

I thought sod it and ended up using my vents as a frame, i basically cut and hollowed the vents leaving a rectanglular frame that was made to fit in the dash. Then i got some plastic tubing, just a bit bigger than the gauges i was using and cut small sections (2/3mm) of them and placed them up along the front of the frame, then glued in place. Then i used small pieces of plastice in between each section of tubing in order to fill the gaps, then some fiberglass, and filler, and hours and hours later and viola

If you wanted to use your vents at one point though mate, you could always just measure the gap where they once were, cut out a large piece of plastic or somthing the same same and then go from there, either make the gauges sit flush or add some contours and shapes.

ok ive opted to put them where the air vent was so got a spare one i had out of my garage and have started hacking it up!
Ive cut the vent wheels out which should make it easier to cover rather than have to shape vinyl over them :?
Picture below is what it looks like now

ive made a template of the front panel out of cardboard that covers the front opening and will use this to cut out of 5mm MDF?
Just waiting for the gauges to turn up now and i can carry on
Will post more pics then

Fits like a glove :D
Just need to blend in the front now and i can start thinking about wether to paint it or cover in Black vinyl

up close you can see a few imperfections, tried spraying with Plasti-coat(?)but looked absolutely sh1te so covered it in Black vinyl.
Not perfect nut i dont care cause ive got 3 extra dials :D
This link http://www.mz3.net/articles/231.html should come in handy when wiring up but not for an E30 so if anyone has a better one please let me know :)
Shouldnt be to hard though, lighting is simple, volt meter simple but oil pressure/temp a bit more involved.Got all senders etc but not sure if their the same threads as BMW cause theyre originally from a Mini
