Received wisdom seems to be that the 2.8s much better. There's a nice one of these on style 42s just down the road from me that's tempted me for a while now..

they are decent cars mate, ive just bought a 1996 p plate 328i touring in boston green, manual, fully loaded (leather sport seats, climate control, 18 button obc, parking sensors, heated seats, roof bars, blah blah) 1 owner, alarm/immobiliser, fbmw service history, 115k mile, cost me £995 with 6 months tax and mot till nov'11 :D

I had a lovely 323 touring - they make a lovely noise and they do go well but they don't have the effortless poke of the 328i.

Good cars - the one in the OP is strong money but if its as straight as its looks its worth it IMO.

thing is auto and the 2.5 which is a bit gutless won't be great on fuel or in a straight line. But a manual 2.8 which will be the same to run is in a different league!

Hadnt read the ad properly - I wouldn't have an autobox on any BMW under 3.5 litres :twisted:

i hadn't noticed it was an auto either.. just gave the advert a very quick run-through as i was going out, then posted the link on here for some advice.
