Looking at renewing the clutch whilst the box is out and have easy access.
Where's the best place to buy one from and what make should I buy?
Will a standard one work ok with the Turbo or are there any uprated clutch alternatives?
Running E28 flywheel and clutch at the moment.
TIA

GSF do clutches for these, I have used clutches from there for various cars in the past and never had a problem. They were cheaper than the ones you see on ebay when I enquired a month or so ago

Just checked on GSF's website and they don't list an E28 535i clutch, only a 520
ECP got this one?

Try giving your local branch a call (if you have one), or the main mail order place. I've found before that the website doesn't list everything

Out of those on the list, the Sachs one or the Borg + Beck one would be the ones to go for in my opinion. Not cheap, are they?!

This is the one I put in mine, I got mine for £180 cheaper if you have a trade account and know them well
Well worth doing before putting the engine in, also remember to leave the top bolts off when you put the box back on, then you can remove the gearbox in the future if needed without taking the engine out.

And get a decent 240mm friction plate, E28 and others around that era will fit
Here's a list of them

The clutch was designed to work on a much heavier car than an e30, so that must work in it's favour

True say, just don't want to fork out £250 if it's not going to work well
I know Jason, was looking at getting this one:

Bringing this thread back up as i now need a stronger clutch. Im using the e34 duel mass. Been on sachs website and they list a uprated friction and pressure plate. What do we all think? I have heard the m5 pressure plate can hold more torque but this wont fit onto the duel mass will it?

No, M5 is a lightwheight flywheel, I was reading somewhere that other models shared the sam fly as the E28 M5.
Will go for a gander and be back.

Some E32's have the same flywheel as the E28 M5, but can't find the link.

Does a e28 singel mass clutch fit a duel mass fly / m5 fly? Are the all compatable? The clutch im looking at is listed as a e28 535i but i wanted to run m5 flywheel.
