been looking around for a front wing i gave up and rang bmw to try an get the decal for the wing so i could stick it to a replacemennt and apparantly they never heard of it on a standard e30? they said its an alpina stripe and they dont do them anymore?

i thought this was jsut standard cause its a 316i lux, is this standard stripe or is aftermarket or alpina?

and if anyone knows, where i can get a replacement from?

Certainly nothing to do with Alpina. I have seen plenty of E30s wth pinstripes though, how many are genuine BMW i don't know.

Check out real OEM, list a few different pins stripes, best bet thought mite be going to a local sugn writing type place and have one made.

If you can't match it take a hair dryer to it warm it up an peel it all off, then use white spirit to clean off any adhesive left behind and your left with a blank canvas! Hopefully they have not been on the car since new or you might find your left with brilliant red pin stripes where the sun has bleached your paint!!'

I always thought using white spirit on paintwork was a bad idea! For glue residue I usually use WD or a polish with a cutting compound and give it a good shine while I was at it :)

a lot of the time they're used as a handy masking line for paint repairs.

many a dodgy bodyshop has added a pinstripe so they only have to paint a certain amount of a pannel and help mask blent lines or poor colour match 8O

it's just a pin stripe, many 80's cars got these.. dealers didn't do them but they could be ordered and then local companies were brought in to do them,

they were often fitted when cars needed lower body paint, these hide the paintline.. have a look in old established motor factors.. some still stock them

IIRC they phased out when they became known as go faster stripes ? :P

I had a red 318i Lux with this exact same stripe. I think all 316i/318i Lux's had the double pin stripe.
