How do you use 318 propshaft?

I want use my 318i propshaft with M50 engine. I use m40 gearbox.

but my prop is too long.

box came 5cm (about 2 inch) rear and prop dont fit in there any more.

do you remove that thing what I retangled with red in picture?

you need an M20 320 prop for the set up you want to use.
The rectangle thing is used to join the two halfs together.Make sure you alingn the two factory paint marks if you split the prop into two.

You can slacken that nut off and shorten the prop, then do it back up again.

Not sure if that will fit though.

Just get a 320 propshaft, yours will not shorten enough.

hmm...

for now, it´s shortened enough :)

I removed retangeled nut and just cut prop about inch shorter. then centre bearing need new bolts under the car. thats not good solution. Im50 is on my test car, when I put it on my dayli driver I take new prop :D

I just read everywhere that 318i gearbox with m50 need 320 or 318 prop. its a legend?
