E30 pin 2 to E36 pin ??

E30 pin 3 to E36 pin NOT USED

E30 pin 4 to E36 pin 12

E30 pin 5 to E36 pin 23

E30 pin 6 to E36 pin 22

E30 pin 7 to E36 pin 21

E30 pin 8 to E36 pin 24

E30 pin 9 to E36 pin 20

E30 pin 10 to E36 pin ??

E30 pin 11 to E36 pin 19

E30 pin 12 to E36 pin NOT USED

E30 pin 13 to E36 pin 13

E30 pin 14 to E36 pin 14

E30 pin 15 to E36 pin 15

E30 pin 16 to E36 pin NOT USED

E30 pin 17 to E36 pin NOT USED

E30 pin 18 to E36 pin 18

I'm sure I Pmd you about it at the time will. I didnt have a pin 14 in my e36 loom. I'm pretty sure that the car didnt have abs actually. I did a fair bit of research to find what pin it was and I think I found it In some wiring diagrams too. Either way mine works :chuckle:

I'm at a family doodah down the pub at the moment so I can't triPle check but I did look at my wiring diagram before I came out and that's what it said :D I can't remember what the colours were but I always go on pin number regardless.
Its worked on mine anyway like I said!
Have you made a start on the ews yet? I had to use a different wiring diagram to what's the sticky says, give me a shout if you want to know what I did.

I have 3 errors
1. Exhaust flap solenoid
2. Lambda control /front lambda sensor is dead /
3. And vehicle speed sensor
alexma3x wrote:found some info and I think that si my problem with dme

http://www.kempower.be/Electronic%20dev ... lation.htm

but check this out
We connected pin 14 /x20/ to pin 14/c101/ it is black/white wire - most swap wiring schemes are for Bosch DME and this black/white wire is going to pin 42 /bosch/ according this table, but mine is Siemens DME and the pin for the vehicle speed sensor is 15 /brown red/

Image

I found pdf about m52 engine management DME 41.0
http://pdftown.com/pdf-ebook/E36_Sedan.zip
pin 15 is for ABS/ASC signal but is marked as OUTPUT not input
strange, because we could`t find any other pin for input the speed sensor
FredK wrote:On the MS41.0, the BMW ETM shows X6000 pin 15 is an output, not input. However, the MS41.1 (USA) is shows X6000 pin 15 is an input. Functionally the MS41.1 and 41.0 are nearly identical.

It makes no sense that the DME would send information to the ABS/ASC computer. The other way around would make sense. In the following diagram you can see that at X20 pin 9 on the MS41.0, the ABS/ASC to DME signal can be intercepted.

Image

Not knowing the nature of the signal, my guess would be connecting C101 pin 14 to X20 pin 9 (MS41.0) is the solution. Being able to characterize the electrical signals would be great prior to hooking up wires willy-nilly, but this makes the most sense to me.
willnz wrote:you need to trace the wire back from pin#36 of the ECU plug (A6000) and confirm which pin it goes to on X20.
According to the wiring diagrams i'm looking at now, pin 36 on the ecu goes to pin 20 on x20, have you looked at the dash engine speed input and not the dash speed signal?

I am trying to do the same thing here in Africa.
I imported a M52B28 motor from a E36 from England. That is why I am searching for enlightenment here :)
It came with a Siemens DME MS41.0 coupled to a loose EWS2 unit.
My motor supplier wrote ”aThe ECU set is so you can use it to make the car run unless you have something else in mind”a. The starter does not react, so I have a feeling that the ECU must still be programmed to ignore the EWS2, so I can use the old E30 key to start it.
Can you guys help me there please?

EWS will only affect the operation of the starter motor when fitted to an E30 if you have modified the starter wiring by connecting it to the EWS module. Most conversions don't bother with this unnecessary complication, leaving the starter motor wiring as it is, and leaving the relay pins on the EWS module not connected.
Was the E30 an auto?

Thanks for the reply Brian :)
I got the wiring that I am using from http://www.akgmotorsport.com/e30convpins.html. Do you have a bette link ?
I do not have the EWS2 module connected, as I do not have the wiring for it.
I am just wondering if the lack of the EWS module is affecting the starting of said engine, since this is a anti-theft feature ?
Can I use the Siemens DME MS41.0 as it came from the E36, or must there be a modification done to it ?
When I key the car I get 5v on all the sending units.
I am using the manual gearbox that came on the donor vehicle for beter accelerationl, being restricted to a cruising speed of 75 mph in Namibia :(

You won't be able to start the engine without either wiring in the EWS or having the ECU modified to work without it, but as Brian said the starter should turn once wired in regardless of EWS, Black/Yellow is the starter wire, put a live to it and the starter will turn

Where I live we do not have anybody who modifies ECU's :(
I was told a Bosch ECU will plug straight in and work. Is this true ?

Posting and the customs nightmare on the return is no fun :(
What do you charge to make the siemens unit work and what do you need apart from the DME ?
